El nuevo escenario/The new scenario
Estos últimos tiempos vaya que han sido distintos, sobre todo en el mundillo de las artes y el entretenimiento, dudo que muchos lograsen predecir este escenario tan turbulento y cambiante. Hace poco, concretamente desde la llegada del Covid-19 que aun azota al planeta muchos dimos cuenta con más fuerza (la gran mayoría de personas) contra el cambio que ya se venía gestando en el vientre de la cultura popular… El gran dominio de las cadenas y empresas de Streaming.
Creo que para nadie es un misterio lo que es el Streaming y creo yo la gran mayoría hacemos uso de estos servicios para nuestro entretenimiento, solo hay que ver el increíble éxito y alcance que ha tenido la plataforma insignia de este nuevo movimiento; Netflix, quien me atrevo a decir domina el mercado por un gran margen.
These recent times have been really different, especially in the world of arts and entertainment, I doubt that many could have predicted this turbulent and changing scenario. Recently, specifically since the arrival of the Covid-19 that still plagues the planet, many of us (the vast majority of people) realized with more force against the change that was already brewing in the womb of popular culture ... The great dominance of networks and streaming companies.
I think it is no mystery to anyone what Streaming is and I think the vast majority of us make use of these services for our entertainment, just look at the incredible success and scope that has had the flagship platform of this new movement; Netflix, who I dare say dominates the market by a large margin.

La caída de Goliat/The fall of Goliat
Por mucho tiempo el cine fue el titán del entretenimiento, hasta hace no mucho nuestro principal medio de entretenimiento además de la televisión y el internet, fueron las grandes producciones cinematográficas que primeramente llegaban a los cines y las personas se acumulaban en enormes masas para adentrarse de lleno en las salas y sumergirse en la experiencia que esas ofrecían.
Fue de esta forma por mucho tiempo… y a pesar de que Netflix con el correr de los años ha ganado mucho terreno y ha dejado el camino trazado para que otros le sigan, era el cine quien ostentaba este trono. Con la llegada de la pandemia y lo que representó esto el cine y nuestros estilos de vida han sufrido duros golpes, todo ha cambiado…. Y dudo que muchas cosas vuelvan a la “normalidad” que más que eso solo será un vago recuerdo del final de una década. Todos estos cambios nos han sembrado una duda e inquietud en nuestros corazones y es… ¿Las salas de cine desaparecerán? No tengo la respuesta a tan enorme pregunta, pero llamó poderosamente mi atención así que daré mi opinión de internauta al respecto.
For a long time cinema was the titan of entertainment, until not so long ago our main means of entertainment besides television and the internet, were the great film productions that first came to theaters and people accumulated in huge masses to fully enter the theaters and immerse themselves in the experience they offered.
It was this way for a long time... and even though Netflix over the years has gained a lot of ground and has left the way laid out for others to follow, it was the cinema that held this throne. With the arrival of the pandemic and what it represented the cinema and our lifestyles have suffered hard blows, everything has changed.... And I doubt that many things will return to "normality" that more than that will only be a vague memory of the end of a decade. All these changes have planted a doubt and uneasiness in our hearts and it is... Will movie theaters disappear? I don't have the answer to such a huge question, but it caught my attention so I will give my opinion as an Internet user.

¿El cine del futuro?/The cinema of the future?
Hay quienes afirman que las salas de cine ya están viendo el ocaso de sus días, debido a que (y no es un secreto para nadie) muchas de las grandes producciones audiovisuales están siendo manejadas y visualizadas por plataformas de internet como por ejemplo ; Netflix, AmazonPrime y DisneyPlus los actuales colosales del Streaming.
Sin embargo y según ComScore, compañía que se encarga de auditar y medir el comportamiento de la audiencia, y el mercadeo de la taquilla en los grandes países como Estados Unidos, España e incluso muchos países de América Latina, ha habido un aumento gradual en las asistencia a las salas de cine, dicho aumentó llegó a un nuevo pico histórico con el estreno de la famosa película Avengers Endgame, de la cual seguramente hablaremos en un futuro, de hecho el año 2019 fue un gran año para las salas de cine (monetariamente hablando) no solo por Endgame que fue la película más taquillera de ese año y de la historia, hubo películas que recaudaron cantidades obscenas de dinero; en su gran mayoría títulos de Disney como Spiderman Far from Home, Capitana Marvel, Frozen II y Star Wars Capitulo IX.
Podemos afirmar que el negocio del cine aún es muy lucrativo para las salas, obviamente la llegada de las plataformas de Streaming han tomado parte de su mercado, pero aun así sigue siendo un enorme productor de dinero. Sin embargo, su fortaleza se ha estado tambaleado y más que las plataformas de Streaming, personalmente creo que el Covid-19 fue la flecha que dio en el talón.

Netflix era una empresa que llevaba ya tiempo en el negocio del entretenimiento, comenzaron en el 97 como un negocio de alquiler de películas, pero eso no nos interesa demasiado ahora. Vayamos al futuro al 2007, Netflix comenzó el proyecto de servicio de VOD en Estados Unidos para ser utilizado por medio de una computadora esto poco a poco irá creciendo, Netflix aumentaría su catálogo de películas y poco a poco iría creciendo su influencia, no solo en Estados Unidos sino también en el resto del mundo.
Ya por los años 2011 Netflix alcanzaría a Latinoamérica, el Caribe, Europa y sería un servicio de cierto renombre, las ventajas que representaba el servicio eran evidentes y ya las conocemos, sin embargo, para estas épocas Netflix no se veía como la amenaza que es hoy en día. En 2008 Blockbuster no consideraba a Netflix siquiera un competidor directo y bueno… mira quien ríe ahora. Nadie consideraba a Netflix como una amenaza para el negocio del entretenimiento, solo mira aquí les dejo un artículo bastante interesante del New York Times sobre el tema; Articulo del New York Times .

¿El ocaso de las grandes salas?… no lo creo/The decline of the great halls? I don't think so..
La verdad es que no estaba fácil suponer que una pequeña empresa con esas características se convirtiera en el coloso de hoy en día. LA industria del cine nunca tuvo rival, jamás pensó en tener uno y es allí donde fallaron... A pesar de la existencia de Netflix y de las muchas plataformas de Streaming, las salas de cines en 2019 antes de la pandemia recaudaron alrededor de cuarenta y dos mil millones de dólares, algo sin precedentes en la historia, Suena lógico teniendo en cuenta que en dicho año se estrenaron muchas de las películas más taquilleras de la actualidad como las he mencionado antes.
Netflix por otro lado el año 2019 facturó alrededor de veinte mil millones de dólares, la mitad, aunque su proyección está en aumento y seguramente no conocerá techo pronto. Aunque ninguna de las dos industrias puede competir contra el verdadero monstruo del entretenimiento, los videojuegos pero eso es harina de otro costal. Como podemos ver a pesar del creciente aumento del uso de las plataformas de Streaming los cines siguieron recaudando dinero, su mayor caída fue producida no por Netflix, no por Amazon o alguna otra plataforma de Streaming, fue el tema pandemia que afecta al mundo hasta el día de hoy lo cual hizo que las ganancias de las salas disminuyeran, ciertamente las empresas de Streaming han copado parte del mercado del entretenimiento, pero la verdad es que no son competencia directa una de otra. No sé qué ocurrirá a futuro, pero creo que aun tendremos cine para un rato más.
Los cines son un negocio casi centenario, y si bien hay que decirlo pienso que han innovado poco o nada en estos últimos años. Creo que este oscuro pasadizo por el cual están atravesando debe ser una lección que deberán asimilar sino quieren pasar al olvido.

I don't know what will happen in the future, but I think we will still have movies for a while longer.
Cinemas are an almost century-old business, and although it must be said, I think they have innovated little or nothing in recent years. I think this dark passage they are going through should be a lesson they should assimilate if they don't want to be forgotten.
