This game was a rollercoaster of emotion that ultimately led to a nothing burger, but this feeling has become all too common in recent seasons for the Titans. There was some positive notes sprinkled in this game, but yeah, here are my thoughts.
The Titans were pretty ok in the first half. The offense lacked much rhythm but they had a handful of decent drives. The defense looked outstanding as well.
Then the second half happened. The defense still get's an A on the day. They actually did not allow a single touchdown on the day!! Caleb Williams may have won his first game as a starter, but he didn't get his first points against the Titans. If Caleb does become a legend at least there's that? Meh.
Mental Errors and Will Levis struggled BIG TIME
This loss falls on lack of discipline and mental errors. The Titans choked so bad in the dumbest ways. The special teams looks terrible still as they allowed a blocked punt for a freaking touchdown. Just like that disastrous Colts game last year.
Will Levis really just sucked in the second half. He threw an absolutely insane pick-six at the worst possible moment in the fourth quarter. He threw two total picks. He managed to eclipse 150 total yards thanks to some rushing yards, but I don't even really like seeing him run because he's just getting hit a ton. I honestly was not very impressed. DeAndre Hopkins apparently tore his MCL earlier this summer?? He played in like sixteen plays I heard, I don't even know what's going on there.
BUT the Bears defense has been hyped up all season. The Titans had some promise in this game. They had a 17-0 lead!!! They truly handed this win to the Bears on a silver platter.
Caleb Williams didn't even surpass 100 yards passing! The Bears only totaled 148 yards on offense!
This game was a dumpster fire in many ways, but hey it's just the first game. Brian Callahan's first game. Will Levis's tenth start ever and his first in this system. Not feeling too hot about the team yet but I honestly was glad to watch the squad play today. It's been too long!
Let's see how things develop in the next few weeks.
Jets next week!
