Hello @MAcFiT Players and Fans,
You have waited for this post a long time, but finally I am ready to announce the Kick-off of Season 12.
Format
I've experimented with the format over the last 2 seasons and have come up with yet another change. The difference is that we will play in Super League only (26 players). No Consolation Cup, no lucky losers.
There are many reasons for discontinuing Consolation Cup:
- many players were not even aware (!) that they were in the competition
- low interest measured by upvotes/comments
- low upvotes meant rather symbolic award pool
- my own time constraints
- too complex rules
In Season 12, 26 players will compete in Super League. The format is "Elimination Race". The tournament will be played over 5 weekends and after each weekend the players with the lowest accumulated scored will be out.
As in last season, the scores will accumulate and will be weighted - most recently won points will have higher weight. With every passing weekend, the value of past scores will drop by 20%. Therefore in the Final Four weekend, the scores will be calculated in the following way:
- Weekend 5 points: 100%
- Weekend 4 points: 80%
- Weekend 3 points: 60%
- Weekend 2 points: 40%
- Weekend 1 points: 20%
Schedule
Weekend 1: Fri-Sat, Dec 16-17.
The first weekend will be combined with qualifications, details below.
Weekend 2: Fri-Mon, Dec 23-26 (Christmas!)
Weekend 3: Fri-Mon, Dec 30-Jan 2 (New Year!)
Weekend 4: Fri-Mon, Jan 6-9
Final Four: Fri-Sat, Jan 13-14
Note: Weekend One and Final Four are played over 2 days (Fri and Sat), whereas Weekends 2-4 are played over 4 days (Fri thru Mon).

Most slots will be taken by players who did well in the last season and/or are @macfit regulars. There are some Wild Cards and few slots are open for qualification.

Weekend One / Qualification
Friday AND Saturday, Dec 16-17
Weekend One will be combined with qualifiers. Here's how:
- all players listed above, are in play. Their scores from Friday and Saturday will count and I will collect their @actifit step counts
- candidates listed below (and anyone who wants to join), must post their @actifit step counts for the two days as comment to @macfit post that will be published just before the kick-off
- 6 players with the highest total, will join the "pre-allocated" players.
- out of all 26 players (20 pre-allocated and 6 from qualifiers), 8 players with the lowest score will be eliminated
- the 8 eliminated players will be considered participants - they will get their share in the awards pool and will get points for @macfit ranking
Remaining 18 players will take part in Weekend Two.
