I agree that photography of coins is a specialty of its own. It took me a lot of experimenting to get an ideal shot. Proofs with a cameo finish on the subject are the easiest to do. IF both the subject and field are the same finish making the shot much more difficult.
Some of these coins takes several shots before I can get the right view to show the detail. This one is very shiny with lots of detail and it was not easy to get the lighting right, but I think it came out pretty good although it looks much better in person.
