2018 Australia 1 oz Silver Dragon Bar Coin
First Year of Issue, One troy ounce of .9999 fine silver minted by the Perth Mint, with a Face Value of $1 AUS legal tender under the Australian Currency Act.
Reverse
A stylized Chinese dragon winds around the reverse, chasing a flaming pearl. Clouds, wind, and water can be seen in the background, along with the Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark. Chinese culture reveres the dragon as a divine mythical creature and a symbol of strength, wealth, and good fortune.
Obverse
The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. Inscriptions include “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA,” along with the coin’s weight, purity, denomination, and year of issue.
The 2018 Australia 1 oz Silver Dragon is the 1st release of the bullion Australian Rectangular Silver Dragon Coins.

I missed a chance on getting one on Ebay from an unknown Canadian seller, the final price was kind of too high anyway but it shows the good re sell-ability of Perth Products with a popular theme like these dragons.

I've missed several coins when they were first offered. Some are tough to procure later. But I have self-restrictions and the coins I don't have (1) may not be in my goal list, (2) may be over the thresholds of the cap I put on coins. It makes it easier to accept missing a coin if they fall into any of the above. The exception for me was when Perth offered the Swan in 2017. Eventually, the Swan is a coin that I "collect" and have added that in my yearly goal list, just as the Black Flag is now on that list. With the introduction of the bullion Dragon bar-coin, I had to discontinue getting the yearly Noah's Ark. I've missed three years of that, and I sometimes wish that I just continued on with it.

At first I loved the design, but I would rather have a round....

It is not only that Perth Mint mints top-quality, well-struck coins. I think that what makes their coins appealing and desired is- the designs are traditional and conservative, therefore classic and universal. The decision-makers of the coin designs have it right. But I do think that the triangular shape coin was pushing it too far. The bar-coin's appeal is that it is a step up to the generic 1 oz silver bars and there is a huge market for 1 oz silver bars.

It is amazing how getting one coin a year of a specific design becomes several coins and becomes a fascinating set in time. I think that our friendship token- the Allegories- is a great one to have every year. It is a beautiful silver piece.
