The bald eagle has been used to represent strength, liberty, freedom, and our proud nation, and was officially declared the National Emblem of the United States by the Second Continental Congress in 1782.
The American Bald Eagle is an iconic symbol of America, and one of my favorite designs in silver and gold.
Majestic Eagle U.S. Bicentennial 1776-1976 Silver Bar
One Troy Oz .999 Fine by the Madison Mint, a rare, vintage bar commemorating the 200th year of Independence.A lovely vintage silver bar minted in 1976, serialized #004734. It is high-relief like, wth the Eagle that appears ready for flight.

It is actually my second Majestic Eagle U.S. Bicentennial silver bar. The first one I have shown below is serialized 002588 ( 8 is my lucky number!), and 1976 is indeed a very special year.
The eagle design on the Majestic Eagle U.S. Bicentennial silver bar by Madison Mint is an adaptation of the original Majestic Eagle design of Adolf Weinman's Walking Liberty Half Dollar reverse.

Eagles are a common sight over my home. I often see the mated pair lazily circle high in the sky and I can't seem to get a good shot of them with my Smartphone. I haven't located their nest but know its general location.
They're awesome when I see them.
However, the local crows hate them and often send up an raucous alarm when the Eagles get too close to any of Crows nests. And justifiably so as I witnessed the Eagles raid a crow's nest and the resulting crow storm that resulted.
Nature at it's dramatic.

I was asked if these Eagles are really bald, LOL! The bald eagle is the largest eagle type and can be found ONLY in North America in Canada, Alaska and lower 48 states. Their nest is HUGE, and so they need strong trees for nests because they mate for life. return to the same nest, and keeps building the nest! Look for those big tall trees and maybe you will find an Eagles nest! I am so glad that it is no longer in the list of endangered birds.
I wish I could go somewhere open right now and enjoy nature. Alas, our skies are smokey. My yard and car, covered with ash.

The Bald Eagle is indeed a majestic bird and does remind you of what this country stands for. That is a beautiful bar; especially the high relief side of the eagle and also the counter relief reverse side.
Up here in the Northwest, the Bald Eagle is almost a daily sight. I never tire of seeing one in flight and if I happen to get lucky enough to be near one on the ground, well lets just say it is totally breath taking! They arouse a sense of awe every time.

Have you seen an eagles nest? I have not in person. They say that it can be H-U-GE-, because the eagles mate for life, and they come back to the same nest and they keep building and building that nest. And they live 30 years and others up to 50! Incredibl! How I wish my Yorkies will live that long. I am preparing myself to someday lose My Sweetpea... she is 15 years old in December.

I have seen one at a distance. They are huge! I know what you mean about our pets. It's hard to let go when the time comes. You would think it would get easier the more times it happens, but it does not!
