The Battle of Britain began on 10 July 1940 and would last until 31 October of the same year. The clash fought in the skies above Britain was described as the first major military campaign fought entirely by air forces.

British fighter pilots defended the United Kingdom from Nazi Germany’s attempted air invasion, code-named ‘Sealion’. The victory inspired Sir Winston Churchill’s famous speech paying tribute to ‘The Few’.

Never, in the field of human conflict, was so much owed by so many to so few
-Winston Churchill
