It’s that time of year again, and I’m kicking off something a little special. Over the next twelve days, I’ll be sharing my 12 Days of Christmas Precious Metals Wishlist. Each day, I’ll reveal one item I’d love to find under the tree this year, starting with something small and affordable, and gradually working my way up to the dream coin, bar, or piece that’s truly priceless to me.
This series, originally thouggt up by our very own @silverd510, ties in perfectly with our annual #secretsanta community gift exchange, giving everyone taking part the chance to share a little insight into their stacking preferences. It’s a fun way for your mystery sender to get a few hints about what would make your Christmas stack sparkle just that little bit brighter.
So, let’s kick things off with Day 1:

Tonight, I’m starting with something I actually mentioned in a blog just a few nights ago; good old junk silver, also known as constitutional silver. It’s cheap, easy to find, and carries a ton of history in every worn edge and faded design. For those lucky enough to live in the United States, you can sometimes even find it tucked away in your pocket change.
Here in the UK, things are a bit different. Our silver coinage was removed from circulation back in the 1940s, so finding true silver coins in your change just isn’t a thing anymore. I love our pre-decimal silver coins, they’re a beautiful reminder of a bygone era,ut they’re getting harder to come by, and most cost a little more these days since so many have been melted down over the years.
Still, for me, junk silver is the perfect way to start this wishlist. It’s real, tangible, and often overlooked, but every little piece tells a story, and that’s what makes stacking so special.
That’s Day 1 done and dusted. Tomorrow, we’ll move on to something a little more fancy, still stackable, still silver, but perhaps with a touch more shine. Stay tuned!
Not a fan of junk silver. While I have some, I started as a coin collector. So condition is everything to collectors.
Where do you 'easily' find junk silver cheap and worthwhile?
I can't find any!
I never really got to discover much junk silver while hunting for shiny stuff but I think here in Spain it's harder than it is in the US as well as it is in the UK.. it's not like we can get some change in the store and get lucky that it's silver.. sadly :)
