What's Buzzing Friends...

Make sure you leave a little table space in case you're seated in a a Chinese restaurant because they are always guaranteed to have fortune cookies on hand. Fortune cookies are a lovely little treat to come with your meal. All you need to do is crack it open to find a short piece of life advice inside or lotto numbers. Fortune cookies have become something of a staple for a quick takeaway for Chinese food restaurants. It's a great way to find solace in your food and a nice parting message. But they are interesting when you look more into their history and back story.

It is to note that Chinese fortune cookies are not really Chinese at all. But rather they come from Japan and were originally conceived of by Makoto Hagiwara, who was aa Japanese national that was working in San Francisco in 1914.

The majority of fortune cookies come from the Wonton Food Inc located in Brooklyn New York, and until writers block struck, Donald Lau, the vice president of Wonton Food Inc, wrote all the fortunes himself.

But most impressive of all in 2005, fortune cookies sold by Wonton Food Inc, had winnning lotto numbers on the back that correctly listed the winning numbers and consequently, 110 people won the lotto that day! Now that is a tasty treat.
