With the Hive.Loans DHF Proposal Nearly Reaching the Acceptance Threshold to Help Fund the 60 Day Rapid Development of the Project, Let's Take a Moment to Thank the DHF Supporters Making This All Possible for the Community.

One of the biggest issues that both new and established developers on HIVE or any other ecosystems face in their career is trying to procure upfront development funding to help offset the cost of building new, innovative technologies and services. What happens a lot of the time is that a lone developer (or a team) will work unpaid for the duration of the required initial version launch cycle in hopes that the future revenue of a projects makes up for the time expended to push the initial version out to the community.

Luckily here on HIVE we've got the DHF fund which allows the community and its stakeholders to support proposals that developers can create outlining their projects and asking for funding from the fund in order to help alleviate the costs associated with software development and testing.

Feeling quite blessed having put fourth my proposal for partial funding of the development time of Hive.Loans and within a few days of so nearly reaching the threshold to have the proposal accepted.

Not counting my chickens before they hatch of course... But it's looking quite likely that the project receives DHF funding to help offset development costs. Only a few million more HP support weight needed to put it over the acceptance threshold and with the proposal not even starting until Feb 15th, 2021 it's looking quite promising that all will move forward smoothly.

DHF Support and Subsequent Future Revenue Donations

image.png

Assuming that DHF proposal #154 is funded in its duration entirety the whole Hive.Loans codebase will be forever open sourced. This includes all future updates to the site and ultimately allows for other developers in the community to take what is built here and utilize the functions within to help build their own HIVE based businesses. In addition to the open sourcing of the Hive.Loans codebase the site will also make a monthly contribution to the DHF funding pool in a sort of "pay it forward" type mentality, in hopes that future HIVE projects may get development funding, in part paid by the revenue generated through this service being partially paid for by the DHF fund pool.

Hoping this is a model that takes off for future proposals on HIVE as it would create a truly self sustaining development fund to expedite the evolution and rapid build up of the HIVE ecosystem and it's available use cases. The more money the community allocates and spends towards building itself up the more likely it is to garner the attention of outside entities and attract them here.

Moving Forward with Hive.Loans Development

Hive.Loans is my main development focus from now until it's production ready and launched. The development timeline with funding should have the site released on or before April 15th, 2021 and to ensure that this launch date is met a large sum of hours between then and now will be spent on the Hive.Loans project. On the off chance the proposal isn't funded the site will still be worked on and released as soon as possible, but in having to also seek out more paying work and splitting focus on them as well would slow things down a fair bit. Either way this is coming to HIVE in the future.

The website and service itself is online as an incomplete and non-functioning placeholder until it's to the point we can start doing public alpha testing prior to launch. Many of the features displayed on the site may be broken or buggy so please do be cautious when clicking around on the demo.

With that I'd like to thank you for reading this and supporting Hive.Loans development. I'm off to resume coding on the project but will try to keep an eye on the comments here and respond.

Great job I am glad you are closing in on the funding. There is no project more deserving than this one. It adds a vital feature to the hive ecosystem while also introducing the "pay it forward" concept. The DHF should not be a one way street, we should have a number of projects putting more money back into it.

This is truly a trailblazer for Hive.

Hopefully others will follow suit.

Lets try to get you the other 1.2 million worth of HP votes.

When I woke up today after a long, much needed rest certainly couldn't believe how close it was to crossing over the acceptance threshold. Quite excited to have come up with the idea and then have the community help bring it into fruition. Will certainly change a lot of the long standing limitations that HIVE had in regards to HIVE liquidity.

Figured the pay it forward method would hopefully serve as a sort of template for projects seeking DHF funding in the future. It only makes sense that the community funding be done in such a way it's self sustaining well into the future.

Thank you for the comment and support!

I wrote a post yesterday about it and mentioned in there that this is an excellent idea. It effectively turns the DHF into a venture capital fund, providing financing for projects that can provide a return over time.

If one went private financing, the money people would want a piece of the action. It only makes sense that the DHF treat things in a similar fashion.

Great idea and I am glad it struck a chord. The open source is also vital, part of it being well received.

Went and checked your post out. I dig it.

In regards to using the "pay it forward" methodology it's sort of the next logical step in the evolution of DHF funded proposals. If you give back to the source that funded the development it in turn ensures that in the future it can be used again. Hopefully people understand the importance of making sure the DHF is available to future HIVE development, it's vital in my opinion.

HIVE as a network isn't some fly by night here and gone type thing. It's important we take the future 5 or 10 years down the line into considerations when planning our actions of today. It would be a shame if in some point in the future developers on HIVE were unable to receive funding due to the DHF being empty.. This is a step towards preventing that.

It's important we take the future 5 or 10 years down the line into considerations when planning our actions of today.

Without a doubt, that is vital. We need to do the things that keep replenishing it. If some of these projects are screaming successes, they can really keep a steady flow of resources to the DHF, which will lead to more development down the road.

Glad to see some like you are taking the long term view of things.

I am very pleased that you have obtained the support for your proposal (I just read the 100% of the goal).

It is brilliant ideas like this that deliver value to our platform and I am proud that you are my partner in Hive.

Best of luck with the project!

Thanks for the kind words sir! Quite excited to be building this shift in paradigm. :)

I love it I've looked into the proposal page but didn't know they were like that. I want to start a dapp on Hive for hip-hop artists and music producers definitely will take time I'll keep that in mind I need to get some more funding myself for this to go forward.

It's as simple as writing a decently detailed proposal post and being realistic about your funding requirements. If the the community decides it would like to fund the proposal it will do so. :)

Thought I already voted for it but did so now!

Thanks a bunch man! Highly appreciated!

This seems reasonable. I can vote this.

Appreciated a bunch. :)

Nice!

Voted a few days ago and you only had 2 mil. Almost there!
