P2P decentralization? Musicians ask for Devs help. At the beginning was MUSIC with Napster then came BTC, then DPOS, then WEB3 with Hive, then... MUSIC?

in HiveDevs4 years ago (edited)

Music industry is one of the most centralized economy.

Everybody knows that. Musicians need more geeks, they need to be more close to devs, decentralized coders, hackers. If you want to listen a song legally you need to pay the fees to majors : Universal, Sony and Warner. Ok, ok everybody knows that. Streaming apps revived the industry, but the record labels collect the profits. Thousands of articles, words. But my question is why?
First, because artists need to communicate better with devs, especially HIVE DEVS. This is why I'm writing right here and I'll cross post on other community like GEMS, OCD, Palnet and so on.

Why?

I'm an artist and it took me more then 2 years to realize that value comes from music and then it spreads all around. I realize it thanks to blockchain revolution, where I jumped in the end of 2017. So why? Because it is a cultural change first of all. It was one of the best thing that happened to me for my music carrer to discover. I stopped use SoundCloud and all other centralized platforms and I left for the crypto-ocean.
The change it has being cultural and it never finished. I jumped exactly during those days when BTC was at 20k $USD, Steem was at 5$ USD and Musicoin was at 0.1 $USD. And then crypto winter came. It was thanks to this winter period that I could learn a lot about decentralization. It was something that was changing inside me. Mind set. The change was about value. Value doesn't come from majors, value comes from music, That's it. Many failures, many shut down platforms I spent many hours died.

Value comes from music

This is the most important thing I realized during crypto winter. The first platform I joined was Musicoin and this is my first love. I was able to increase my music production, thanks to many blockchain artists like @djlethalskillz @junikmusic @samprock @juxta @atomcollector @isaria @asterios @alexworld @niuquin @cryptoking @edprivat @toyo @tanzaff and many other crypto artist. So the change was first of all inside me, is was something I was expected for a long from web, but never happened. The Pear 2 Pear revolution started long time before Satoshi creation, before Bitcoin was born. Pear 2 Pear was born thanks to music, thanks to Napster, in 1999. Who remember Napster?

Napster

Decentralization was born with MUSIC and it was spread all around. Then Satoshi Nakamoto created Bircoin.
From Wikipedia : Napster is a set of three music-focused online services. It was founded as a pioneering peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing Internet software that emphasized sharing digital audio files, typically audio songs, encoded in MP3 format. As the software became popular, the company ran into legal difficulties over copyright infringement. It ceased operations and was eventually acquired by Roxio. In its second incarnation, Napster became an online music store until it was acquired by Rhapsody from Best Buy[1] on December 1, 2011.

Later, more decentralized projects followed Napster's P2P file-sharing example, such as Gnutella, Freenet, BearShare and Soulseek. Some services, like AudioGalaxy, LimeWire, Scour, Kazaa, Grokster, Madster, and eDonkey2000, were also brought down or changed due to copyright issues.

Hive + DTube + 3Speak + Musicoin + DSound = Napster

We need to see the world differently

  • Hive is the place to be! For a musician to learn what decentralization is. He needs to jump on Hive trying to monetize the daily action with his Music mission. The force of Hive is the delegation proof of stake and curation. You can delegate your stake to all those artists who shares and increases their talented every day.
  • DSound. Thanks to @prc and @dsound musicians can stream for free their music and receive curation.
  • 3Speak and DTube. Thanks to 3Speak and DTube, musicians can share their videos too.
  • Musicoin And thanks to Musicoin musicians can released new songs using PPP smart contract. PPP smart contracts mean that each stream operates on a Pay-Per-Play (PPP) basis. Every time a song is streamed, MUSIC is automatically transferred to the musician or all parties of a group, or all parties of a music project.

So my proposal is to put together all those great platforms to achieve the work than Napster started in 1999. To bridge the force of stake delegation, curation, audio or video music stream and PPP smart contract.
This is why I'm writing this post on this community HiveDevs hooping to be able to touch the heart of a code developper.
Thanks to music Napster devs created Pear2Pear,
thanks to P2P Nakamoto created Bitcoin and the blockchain
Thanks to Bitcoin and blockchain Daniel Larimer and Dan created Delegate Proof of Stake : Bitshares, Steemit EOS
Thanks to Steemit (and JustinSun attack) HIVE was created Many thanks to @theycallmedan, @aggroed, @ausbitbank, @blocktrades, @appreciator, @rocky1, @upmewhaleand all other brave witnesses.

You discovered layer 0 and WEB 3

So this is the moment to go forward and achieve what Napster started 20 years ago

Thanks to Hive we could close the circle and repay the debt of gratitude to music and musicians, 20 years after. Never as in this moment music needs de-centralization and everything is there.
HIVE for DPOS, DTube and 3Speak for video stream, DSound for audio stream and Musicoin for PPP smart contract.
Take a look to my last proposal :

Musicoin PPP smart contract variable rate proposal - Cross-chain synergies with Hive/Peakd/DTube (first part)

PPP smart contact could operate on many other blockchain, especially those Ethereum based. So we could even insert directly in a DAW like Reaper. Reaper was created by the same creator of WinAmp the first mp3 player.

Conclusion

Let's give MUSIC a chance! How? Creating the feature to allow to delegate stake to artist thanks to PPP smart contract with any crypto currencies, or even masternodes. This improvement will helps music and musicians after all, and it will boost blockchain adoption in the real life.
If any brave HiveDevs arrived to read until the end of this post despite my bad Eglish, you are welcome brainstorming answering to this post.

Bravo Lorenzo, ben detto! =]

(E' "peer 2 peer", altrimenti e' pere per pere.. 🍐😅 )

@marcocasario
