If anyone here happnens to be familiar with Gran Turismo since the fourth game, you might know that one of the game's best features, the Photo Mode, was only available since GT4 on the PS2. But what emulation allows nowadays is to be able to run the game as far higher resolutions than original consoles allowed to, which in this case would be for Gran Turismo 2 for the PS1 (also with a widescreen code), and take advantage of the game's replay features to take these kind of screenshots.
That's how I got these low-poly yet appealing shots of these cars in some of the fresh yet nostalgic enviroments that Gran Turismo 2 and its still decidedly retro PS1 graphics provide, as demostrated with the titular thumbnail screenshot featuring front and center a great-looking orange Lotus Elise. Because even when these might not be high-fidelity recreations unlike what modern Gran Turismo can offer (for obvious reasons), the appeal of the car designs themselves is preserved along with the nice visual design showcased for the tracks in the game.
Si alguno de los presentes conoce Gran Turismo desde la cuarta entrega, sabrá que una de las mejores características del juego, el Modo Foto, sólo estaba disponible desde GT4 para PS2. Pero lo que permite la emulación hoy en día es poder ejecutar el juego con resoluciones mucho más altas que las que permitían las consolas originales, que en este caso serían las de Gran Turismo 2 para la PS1 (también con un código de pantalla panorámica), y aprovechar las funciones de repetición del juego para hacer este tipo de capturas de pantalla.
Así es como conseguí estas imágenes poligonales pero atractivas, de estos coches en algunos de los entornos frescos pero nostálgicos que Gran Turismo 2 y sus gráficos de PS1, decididamente retro, ofrecen, como demuestra la imagen en miniatura titular, que muestra en primer plano un Lotus Elise naranja de gran aspecto. Y es que, aunque no se trate de recreaciones de alta fidelidad como las que ofrece el Gran Turismo moderno (por razones obvias), el atractivo de los diseños de los coches se mantiene junto con el bonito diseño visual de los circuitos del juego.
Funnily enough, I wasn't even driving the Lotus Elise here; I was driving the black Honda Accord-R that can be seen in some of these, but it happened to catch my attention on the race I got these from, which is why I took quite a few shots from it in action in Tahiti Road.
But there's also quite a few screenshots I took in High Speed Road featuring the red Dodge Viper GTS I managed to buy with 75,000 credits after many, MANY races later since I started playing GT2. It is heavier to drive than I thought, but at least it is pretty nice looking and definitely has some top speed potential in it; just needs some more tuning for acceleration and handling. This along with other racer cars like a R33 Skyline GT-R 4Door '97, a Toyota Aristo V300 '9, a Mustang SVT Cobra '99 and a Mazda RX-7 Type RS '98.
Curiosamente, ni siquiera estaba conduciendo el Lotus Elise aquí; estaba conduciendo el Honda Accord-R negro que se puede ver en algunas de estas, pero dio la casualidad de que me llamó la atención en la carrera de la que saqué estas, y por eso hice bastantes capturas de él en acción en Tahiti Road.

Es más pesado de conducir de lo que pensaba, pero al menos es bastante bonito y tiene potencial para alcanzar velocidades máximas; solo necesita más ajustes de aceleración y manejo. And in the Rome Short Circuit, while I was racing with a green Europa I got as a prize car from another event, I immediately noticed a car that I thought that wasn't even in this game: The Lancia Stratos. While it was an unique yellow color, I found it interesting that this was even here as it was not an option to purchase in the Lancia dealership, which is why I took some screenshots from it in the case I couldn't find it again sometime later.
Y en el Circuito Corto de Roma, mientras corría con un Europa verde que conseguí como coche de premio en otro evento, enseguida me fijé en un coche que pensé que ni siquiera estaba en este juego: El Lancia Stratos. Aunque era de un color amarillo único, me pareció interesante que estuviera aquí, ya que no era una opción para comprar en el concesionario de Lancia, y por eso hice algunas capturas de pantalla por si no lo volvía a encontrar más adelante.
To end today's post, here's these shots of my winning cars showing the competition who's the winner...where unfortunately the HUD was still on the way since that's what happens with replays played back after a race and the camera's focused on your car...but hey, I do save most if not all of my winning replays, so I might get to do a good old Round 2 of these type of screenshots sometime later, or even a montage :)
Para terminar el post de hoy, aquí están estas fotos de mis coches ganadores mostrando a la competencia quién es el ganador ... donde por desgracia el HUD estaba todavía en el camino ya que eso es lo que sucede con las repeticiones reproducidas después de una carrera y la cámara se centra en su coche ... pero bueno, yo guardo la mayoría si no todas mis repeticiones ganadoras, así que podría llegar a hacer una buena Ronda 2 de este tipo de capturas de pantalla en algún momento más tarde, o incluso un montaje :)
Shoutouts to @daltono for inspiring me into sharing these style of screenshots after getting to see quite a few of his own shared screenshots taken from Gran Turismo 7; even if there's a charm (at least in my eyes) to the creatively resourceful graphics from PS1's Gran Turismo 2, there is no doubt in how impressive and good-looking GT7 screenshots can be not only thanks to its graphics and enviroments, but with the creativity of whoever takes them.

Honestamente suenas como un nerd de los autos hahahaa. Si algo sé, es que todos esos autos lucen genial. El Lotus es mi favoritos de todos los que vi en las capturas, pero admito que al menos me gustaría tener uno solo de todos los que muestras.
You sound like a car nerd hahahaa. If there's one thing I know, it's that all those cars look great. The Lotus is my favorite of all the ones I saw in the screenshots, but I admit I'd at least like to have just one of all the ones you show.
Even though the Dodge Viper's performance with steering has been a bit shaky so far, I definitely wanted to have it with how good it looked in this game, SPECIALLY the Red and White color scheme, though the classic Silver and Blue which I have seen in other games (like Scud Race and even Top Gear Overdrive; the latter being a nameless clone of it lol) also looked great.
And if you wondered how I could get to name all those cars exactly as they are...that's because the screenshots show the names of the car at the bottom while replay mode is on, just that I cropped the screenshots so that the text wasn't visible lol
