Street Fighter 5 champion edition is a fighting game developed by Capcom and Dimps. The game is available for PS4, Microsoft windows. The game is a side-scrolling one-on-one beat-em-up with a variety of historical fighters from the series such as M. Bison, Dhalsim, Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li.

The game has a large variety of modes, ranging from arcade story, versus training, and ranked matches. In terms of the gameplay, you have light and heavy attacks you can block do elaborate special moves, and build up your power gauge to unlock more special attacks.

The bouts are fun for the most part and as you progress up the difficulty you'll get some pretty challenging matches. Each fighter has their own unique style and you'll have to adapt depending on who you're fighting. For example, Zangief is a large Russian wrestler who's slow but powerful, Dhalsim has long bent limbs so you have to struggle to get up close, and then you've got the good all-rounders like Ryu and Ken.

With the volume of different modes costumes to unlock and stages to be it's a really good value entertaining package. The environments you fight in are very colorful the characters look cool and the voice acting is pretty good albeit as camp as Christmas.

The game has plenty of content to get your teeth into. The visuals are great and the combat has a good ebb and flow. The combat can get repetitive some of the opponents are simple to beat and the 2d style could have been switched to 3d for a more varied experience.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately whether you'll enjoy Street Fighter V Champion Edition will depend if you like beat 'em ups or not. If you've always been on the fence then this probably won't convert you but if you enjoyed those old arcade machines like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Soul Calibur then this game will really give you a huge amount of gameplay to enjoy. Saying that it's not a game you're going to play all night long it's very much a quick session type experience an hour here an hour there it's good fun for longer sessions I'd say it could be a struggle.

I mean I'm not the biggest fan of beat 'em ups. I enjoyed the arcade machines but I've kind of moved on from that but I can appreciate what the game is. It's got plenty to do it looks good. It's kind of faithful to the original with without being too rigid. I enjoyed it in short bursts and i think if you enjoy beat 'em ups it's definitely something that you'll get a lot from.

If I´m honest, I haven´t tried Street Fighter in my life, maybe playing this installment would be a good idea.

Give it a try.
