OBSIDIAN : Lore

The fearsome woman now known as Obsidian grew up in the remote village of Stonebluff as the last remaining Earth mage. Each year, Earth elementalists went off to compete in the contest, leaving Obsidian to train the next generation of warriors. She wished to join the contest of champions, but the village elders advised her against it, saying she needed to stay behind and focus on training others to use Earth magic.

She grew resentful of the way she was treated, knowing she was better than previous mages before her. So, she planned her revenge. In a mine near the village, she taught classes on Earth magic and gained the trust of her students. Her teachings were strenuous and those who could not follow techniques were punished, forced to magically hold obsidian above their heads until it fell on them. She eventually learned to use obsidian to enhance the powers of others. And there was one apprentice she took under her wing. Someone who carried equal anger in his heart. She amplified his abilities in combat practice against other students, making him stronger and more ferocious than his opponents.

The village sat at the bottom of a cliff in the Tower Mountains where frequent rock slides occurred. Not a problem for mages gifted in Earth magic, but Obsidian and her apprentice no longer cared for the village. She saw it as an opportunity to leave behind her old life and find a challenge worthy of her power.

She sent her apprentice to cause a massive rock avalanche. Standing at a distance, she used her power to amplify his own. Her other students rushed to stop it, but they were not up to the task. Not against such raw power. The rocks and debris fell, covering her home, leaving it a ruined field of boulders and dust. She and her apprentice were the only survivors. Word spread of the disaster in the mountains and only whispers remained of Stonebluff.

Obsidian walked away with her head held high knowing she had proven them all wrong. She and her apprentice vanished across the sea and made their way from town to town. They heard of the terror of the Chaos Legion and followed their wake of destruction until they caught the attention of Silas of the Rift. To show off their power, she amplified her apprentice's magic to control and torture Silas' enemies. Silas made Obsidian a close advisor, a tool used to gain information through cruelty.
Obsidian stood calmly several yards back, watching her young apprentice. His robes rustled in the wind as he held his hands up high, struggling to bring down the rocks on the village below.

Obsidian's hands weaved through the air, and she stretched out with her mind. As her energy and her apprentice's connected, she amplified his powers.

He shouted out at the surge of energy coursing through him. The mountains shook, the very ground rumbling beneath their feet. And then the rocks began to fall.

OVERVIEW AND STATS

Obsidian make earth splinter became current meta for magic team. On top of that, earth also have quite a few great mage such a Djinn Biljka, Queen Mycelia, Kron The Undying, ect.

+1 Magic
It gives boost to mage monster by +1 magic.

RULES AND STRATEGIES

1. The ruleset is standard which mean no modification to standard gameplay. This give me more freedom to choose what is the best aproach to win the game.

2. With 28 mana cap, I would consider this as pretty decent since I could come up with medium mana monster for my team.

3. After considering the ruleset, mana cap and splinter that allowed to use, I have choose to complete my daily challenge which is using earth splinter and magic team is preferred for this situation.

LINE UP

OBSIDIAN

Obsidian was chosen since I wanted to build a magic team. With +1 magic boost give my team more firepower which is great especially magic is dominant attributes. Furthermore, I also have a great line up of mage monster for earth splinter that I accumulate.

UNICORN MUSTANG

3 melee damage with 4 speed, 10 hit point combined with Void ability Unicorn Mustang is great choice of tank for my team. I choose it since I do not have monster with 8 mana in my collection that able to be a tank since to become a tank, those monster need to have some great defense attributes.

REGAL PERYTON

5 speed combined with Flying ability, Regal is great magic monster to pick. Also, it offer a lot of value for my team for only 5 mana. I choose it to be place as 2nd monster as secondary tank since enemy monster could have hard time to kill it because of Regal speed and ability. Unless enemy team is a magic team, which unfortunately it is.

KHMER PRINCESS

Khmer Princess is choose since it will increase firepower for my team with 2 magic damage after boost. Also, it act as damage absorber for my team since it will attract monster with opportunity.

GOBLIN PSYCHIC

With high damage dealt which is 3 magic damage after receiving boost and have Tank Heal ability. It is hard to not choose it for my team, it also have a few downside which are low hit point and high mana cost.

DJINN BILJKA

Djinn Biljka, a must have card for my magic team of earth splinter. With Camouflaged ability this card is over powered for the bronze league. This card is a must have since it is one of the cheapest legendary card.

DID YOUR STRATEGY WORK?
Yup, my strategy did work since I have more firepower of magic damage in my team.

WHAT WILL YOU TRY DIFFERENTLY NEXT TIME?
The only thing that I would change is my tank, I wanted to use Grund as my tank since it could attack twice in single round.

DO YOU LIKE OBSIDIAN? WHY OR WHY NOT?
This is a though question since Obsidian is just an ordinary summoner. Other than magic boost, I do not know how to pick it as favorite summoner. I would be a neutral for this matter.
