I got the platinum trophy for Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5

in Hive Gaming3 years ago (edited)

This is determination

I spent just under 100 hours with Cyberpunk 2077. It was nowhere near as good as I expected it to be, but I still ended up having a good time with the game overall.

This video shows highlights of me unlocking every single trophy for Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5.

Continue on to read more about my thoughts concerning this awkward release.

What happened here CD Projekt Red?

I’m confused how there are so many things missing from Cyberpunk 2077 that were once promised. This video does a great job of breaking down all of the unfulfilled promises from the devs at CDPR.

It seems as though they just couldn’t do some of the things they set out to do. It’s baffling considering they had so much money available to them and so many other games have been able to do things that were simply left out in Cyberpunk 2077.

I was so excited to start this game

The wait for Cyberpunk 2077 to be released was extremely long since the initial teaser was released around 8 years ago. We all had such high hopes for Cyberpunk 2077 since it was being created by a team with such a strong reputation after releasing The Witcher 3. Sadly, it just didn’t pan out how everyone had hoped.

As soon as I began playing this game I began to notice tons of silly glitches and quite a few game breaking bugs. Luckily I am a man of extremely high patience, so having my game crash at least 100 times throughout my play through and having to reload my most recent save wasn’t enough to get me to quit. I had after all set a goal to get the platinum trophy on this game.

One of my new habits I picked up with this game was pausing to save before nearly every single thing I did. I never knew when my game may crash on my PS5, I can only imagine how bad the experience was on PS4.

How did I manage to finish this broken game?

I will admit I was having a blast playing the main story of this game, despite all of the issues I was having. It still seemed worth it and I was living off of the hype for this game a bit too. After the main story and the best side gigs, it began to get a bit tedious for me.

There is no variety of side activities, it just felt like I was cleaning up all of the left over stuff on the map just to get the trophies. Upgrading my character seemed rather pointless. In no way did feel a need to build my character in any certain manner. Also my initial choice of life path did absolutely nothing for me after the first hour.

Yet I kept playing. The side of me determined to complete this game is what propelled me to the end. There were some cool things here and there, but honestly this one just didn’t live up to what I had hoped it to be. I can’t believe they are already planning to release DLC. I will probably play it since it’ll be free, but I don’t expect it to be anything spectacular. Same goes for the multiplayer that is coming eventually, it may or may not be worth spending more time with.

I can’t imagine the eventual PS5 version giving me any reason to do another play through. I really was expecting to want to play multiple characters and I now I just don’t want to at all. The RPG elements are lacking big time, there doesn’t seem like there is anything I missed out on my making certain choices.

I don’t want a refund

Even though this game is nothing like they said it would be and has its issues, I still have love for it. Much like an old used up toy that you just don’t want to let go of as a child. I am happy I played this game and completed it to its entirety. Most of the bad things that have been said about Cyberpunk 2077 are true, but it’s still not totally worthless. If you are one of those people who never kept up with the hype before release and just happen upon Cyberpunk 2077 six months after release, then you may think it’s amazing. As long as it’s on a next-gen console or PC of course.

I don’t know how the devs are going to make up for all of the broken promises. They are receiving such a large amount of backlash and hate from gamers, it will take a lot to wipe off this shame. I think CDPR will learn from this and what they do next will be better. They will probably even fix most of the issues in Cyberpunk 2077, eventually. I do not think it will ever become what we had all visualized it to be. It’s just not going to happen.

Cyberpunk 2077 was a bust, but still profitable

It’s a good thing we all preordered this game and didn’t see reviews before getting our copies. I’m glad my reputation wasn’t on the line with this release, I would be feeling quite embarrassed right about now. Instead I just got to play through it and enjoy bits and pieces.

Some of the story is down right amazing and just so perfect for the way I think. The environment looks great when it’s working and I felt like I was truly living in the future at times.

Other times I was questioning why I was still playing the game. I also wondered why it was already available instead of still in development. This is because gamers had been begging for it, we lack patience sometimes. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of those things that just needed more time. A lot more time.

I’m still proud that I am one of the people who took the time to finish everything in Night City, even though it was a bit lackluster. Just be careful going into this game, because there will be issues.

Too much of this is hype versus actual good stuff. I won’t be playing any of it, considering that I don’t have a PS4 or PS5 lol.

I think it'll be well worth your time many months from now. May not ever be exactly what was promised. I still had fun the way it is, but I know most people won’t want to deal with all of the current issues.

So far I have seen only a few episodes from a few different let's plays. From that tiny glimpse at the game it seems great. So far for me the biggest flaw of the game is that it doesn't have a third person view. And it will be even better when I will have a pc that will be able to run it. With that being said my expectations for this game were lower. I prefer medieval fantasy(The witcher games or dragon age origins) to this futuristic setting. Mass effect 2 is the only futuristic rpg that is among my favorites.

Besides that I don't think that it fair to compare this game to the Witcher 3( I have seen a lot of people complaining that it is not as good as Witcher 3). the witcher 3 was not the first game CDPR made in that universe or setting. They already had characters from the books and previous games. Characters that I ( and many others) already loved. I think comparing cyberpunk to witcher 1 would be much more fair because both games are CDPR first attempts in that setting. Both games had a lot of passion put in them. And this is not an insult-The witcher 1 for me is a great game. One of my favorites in fact. It already had amazing atmosphere, great story and characters. Witcher 2 was much better than that and Witcher 3 (for me) is perfect. So I believe that cyberpunk sequel to be much better than cyberpunk.

edit: It's a shame that this game was released too soon. I think it is the result of people being unhappy with delays(even sending death threats) and CDPR bosses and investors wanting a profit now.

There is a 3rd-person mod available on PC already. I agree, it's a huge miss to not include that for a game so focused on customization of your character.

I LOVE medieval games, but futuristic is more my thing. I enjoyed the first few Mass Effects tremendously. Andromeda was a bit of a let down though. Although some parts were undeniably really cool. Can’t wait for the next release that was just teased.

I never played the first or second Witcher. I’m sure you know what you’re talking about though. You sound like a seasoned gamer.
I will say that I am pretty sure they used the exact same walking animations for Cyberpunk that they used in the Witcher 3.

Although lack of money wasn’t the reason this game has its problems, it was money that fueled it releasing prematurely.

I agree if I am going to spend hours creating a character then I want to see him all the time. In my opinion even without character creation games without 3rd-person are very rarely interesting .

I never played or cared about andromeda. For me mass effect is a story about renegade commander shepard creating the most dangerous and badass team in the galaxy has ever seen. So I am not interested in any mass effect that doesn't have that. It seems like the next game is going back to these roots so I am carefully excited.

Some people hate The Witcher 1 because they dislike the combat and graphics but for me those things are not that important. I think that combat in gothic games, mass effect 1 or skyrim is worse than combat in Witcher 1. my other favorites are ancient games like heroes of might and magic 3, Mafia, the longest journey or broken sword. So graphics is also not a big issue.

Agreed. I shouldn't have to go to photo mode just to see my character. Not being able to try on clothes is also a major bummer. Saving outfits would be nice too. Although with it being only first person it’s kind of pointless to have those features.

That storyline was truly such a good world to get lost in. The Normandy was full of interesting characters that actually mattered. I still have fond memories of exploring the Citadel.

Elder Scrolls Oblivion was the open world RPG I ever played besides Mario and Pokemon. I was shocked with what Oblivion offered, although the combat is super simple. It was just so addicting. Loved RPGs ever since.

I'm 30/44 for now, I really love this game

You are well on your way. Be prepared that the cleanup is a bit grindy. Luckily it doesn't take too long.

I just believe investors were pushing for their money and wanted a good amount of Christmas sales. The game needed at least another half a year to a year to be polished and made complete. Even so I played on PC and did enjoy a lot of aspects of it. To be honest I can't wait to replay it in a years time, when we get all the bugs and small things polished and an extra expansion or two. Story, dialogs, characters and the world itself were amazing and are worth playing through even though it didn't live up to the hype (but the hype was so big It could never be as good as people wanted it to be).

I believe you are spot on. Money during the holidays was too good to pass. If only they understood that there was always going to be plenty of sales. The marketing for this game was fantastic. Plus add on all of the people sitting at home bored during Covid times.

I’m curious how they will implement PS5’s DualSense capabilities. That and solid DLC and multiplayer will be enough to get me to play Cyberpunk 2077 again.

I am still looking forward to playing this game once I am done with a few of the other games I am playing. Hopefully by then the bugs can all be worked out and it should play as intended. Congrats on the 100% completion.

There is just such a plethora of must play titles right now. Easy to skip over this one for now with all of its shortcomings.
You liking Immortals? I still wanna play that one so badly. That and Spider-Man. I think I'm about to tackle Maneater next though since the PS5 versions becomes tree today got PS Plus.

Just beat COD Cold War on veteran last night. It was pretty good, but nowhere near as hard as veteran difficulty used to be in previous CODs. World at War literally had me so mad trying to beat that as a kid.

Wow you platinumed this game pretty quickly. I play it on the ps4 and it has only crashed twice and other than that there were no game breaking bugs. It's pretty solid. I did make a post about some of my worst glitches but nothing major.

Quick in terms of how recently it came out, but it definitely took a lot of time. Almost 100 hrs for me, that's no joke. Probably could have done it quicker, but I get distracted easily and like pausing a lot to take photos.

Surprised it hasn’t crashed for you more. For seemingly no reason my game would kick me out quite often on PS5.

The only reason I haven't beat the game yet is because I saw the main story percentage going up really fast so i wanted to savor the game and make it last longer. Been doing lots of side missions. I'd be willing to check out the free dlc's and I didn't know about the upcoming multilayer. That sounds interesting.

I feel you on that. Trying to make it last. You can stay quite busy with side activities and simply exploring and taking cool photos.

Multiplayer I don't think is slated until 2022. It is supposed to be happening though.
