My latest FPS addiction
Splitgate's pre-release version has been around on PC since 2019 but was recently rebranded and brought over to consoles with cross-platform capabilities. This is a F2P competitive 4v4 FPS, think of it as Halo meets Portal.
The footage/commentary in this video is me playing the PS4 beta version of the game on my PS5. The full game was supposed to have officially launched on July 27, 2021. I will have more gameplay of the full release once it's out in August. Until then I'm going to keep jamming the beta when the servers are up that is.
For now, I just wanted to talk a bit about what this game is like. Is it even any good? To me, it instantly brings back Halo 2/3/Reach vibes, which is especially amazing since I switched from Xbox over to PlayStation back in 2013, so I've been without a Halo-type for many years. The gunplay is very similar to Halo, it even features a lot of the same weapons as Halo, and the map design is familiar as well. On top of those gameplay mechanics, we have portals that heighten scenarios to a whole new level.

Ooooww, Portal is one of my fav video games, and I played Halo 1 and I loved it, I have to play the rest of them. Definitely, if a game makes you feel like a mix of these two, I have to try it out! It's a pity I don't have a video game console. I'll ask Santa for one, hahaha.

I only played the original Portal when I first purchased the Orange Box on Xbox 360. I was amazed by the clever game mechanics. It’s wild to see that same idea of portals combined with a game like Halo’s first person shooter gameplay. I love Splitgate for these reasons.
Let’s hope Santa gifts you with a way to experience all of these new games. You deserve it just like any other gamer.
That’s an awesome shirt! Portal and Portal 2 take place in Aperture Science's Enrichment Center, in case anybody wonders haha. My gf often wears a Half Life t-shirt, the thing is I doubt she even knows who Gordon Freeman is. She just likes oversized t-shirts because they are comfy.
