Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a game of the ROL action game genre (ARPG), which was developed by Bioware. It was released on July 15, 2003 for Xbox and Windows platforms. This game is based on the movie saga Star Wars, where its plot is really good and it was not expected more since the games of 2000 were characterized by it, but of course not all of them were like that. The plot is about a ship where the main character of the game travels and the Jedi Bastila, which is pursued by the dark side (Sith). But it's important to clarify that the game is not only based on the movie but also on some things about the comic, which I think is really good, because the story mode is more interesting because they mix and create a great story so that the player is enchanted with the video game and it's addictive, and I think this is the case, we are in the presence of a great game. Beyond the fact that it is from 2003, I can tell you that this game is very good and that the truth has left me quite pleased. I tried the game many years ago and remembering about it I decided to look for it and try it again to give you my opinion in a clearer way about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

As far as gameplay is concerned, I can tell you that the player begins in the ship in which the main character travels, taking no more than 20 minutes, where they also show us a tutorial where they tell us that it deals in a general way with the history of the game and the combat system. The action of this game and like the film and the comic, the plot is developed in different planets where the player will undertake the adventure to try to pass the objectives set out in the game. The main objective of the game character (player) is to protect the Jedi Bastila who is pursued by the dark side. The gameplay is based on battles between the main character, his companions and the dark side who is the enemy of the republic. Besides the game has available weapons, armor and items that are necessary for the player to advance faster in the game, where the strategy in role games are always important, but in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic they are not important as in other video games. Apart from the story mode, the game has available other secondary missions which give a greater variety to this aspect of the game.

However, we can't only be on the good side, the player can also choose the dark side. However, I believe that for the most part we choose a wise and just Jedi. Besides that the player also has the opportunity to choose the secondary missions he wants to perform, which vary according to the side we finally select, if it is the side of the light and the Jedi or the dark side of the Sith. Another thing that is quite interesting in the game is the presence of mini-games within the game, which makes the video game has a greater variety of options for the player to be entertained and not be tedious at one point, because when we get tired of the story mode, we can try to pass the submissions and when not, we go for the mini-games. These are races of Pods, races of swoopbikes, one of cards called Pazaak. In short, in general terms as far as the gameplay is concerned, I think the game developer did a good job and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is quite complete at this point.

Among the people in the game who are available are Darth Revan, Bastila Shan, Carth Onasi, Canderous Ordo, HK-47, Jolee Bindo, Juhani, Mission Vao, T3-M4, Zaalbar, all of these are characters from the main story. Besides the game we know or dialogue with other characters such as Ajunta Pall, Calo Nord, Darth Bandon, Darth Malak, Davik Kang, Uthar Wynn, Mekel, Yuthura Ban, Vandar Tokare, Dorak, Zhar Lestin and Vrook Lamar. Also we have the scenarios where the history, action and adventure of this game is carried out. These spaces are Taris, Dantooine, Kashyyyk, Korriban, Manaan, Tatooine, Ebon Hawk, Endar Spire, Leviathan, Star Forge and The Yavin Space Station.

Graphically the game is acceptable and more so considering that the game is from 2003. The most outstanding of the graphic section is the artistic side where the creator of the game made an excellent work with both the characters and with the scenarios where the game history is developed, however the technical part tarnishes what is the artistic side, but I will not talk about this because I do not master much of the subject. What is the scenarios are correct, they lack a little detail, but in general but it seems that it is good. What it is is the modeling of the characters and the artistic side is the best of the game that makes some graphic errors are covered by the greatness of the character designs. What is the fluidity of the game is good, besides that the visual effects are also correct. Finally I can say that graphically Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is correct and more taking into account that the game is from 2003 and at that time did not have the graphic engines of today, so much so that this game innovated more than any other title of that year and next, in this technical section.

What is the sound if more than good, where they highlight what are the effects of sounds that occur during the battles, without leaving aside the environmental sounds. In Star Wars the sounds have always been essential when creating the games, as it shows some excellent sounds that are very common in this film saga as light swords, blasters, sounds of ships, voices of aliens among many other things. What is the soundtrack is better than the above, where we have excellent musical compositions that are quite entertaining and very consistent with the genre of the game, which in this thing is action. In addition to the game has a variety of musical themes, which are changing depending on the environment or planets in which we are. The game is completely in English without translation or subtitle in Spanish, which I can tell you that this is the part that I am most disappointed in the sound section, however I do not think it takes away the greatness of it as we can get used to it as we have more time in the game, Anyway, this technical section is the most important of the game.

In conclusion, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a great video game, which is not only very entertaining, but also for being a game of the 2000's, it has many positive points in terms of playability, since in those years they focused more on this point than on the technical part as it is now, but of course in the latter they also did a good job. As for gameplay, the game has a good variety, both for the history mode that is very good, as the secondary missions or if not bored we have several mini-games. The graphic part is the weakest part of the game, but it is quite acceptable, more than all the artistic part that is the most relevant of the game. What this the sound part yes that is the best thing, with good sound effects and an impressive and variable soundtrack. The bad thing about the sound part would be that it is only available in English without subtitles, but I think that it does not lower the quality of the sound. For all the mentioned is that I give a 9.5 to the gameplay, an 7.5 to the graphics and a 9.8 to sound.
