El internet ha sido con los años una revolución en distintos aspectos, son millones de personas en todo el mundo que se conectan diariamente a esta red con diferentes motivos, bien sea para leer noticias, redes sociales o ver videos, pero los jugadores no se quedan afuera de esa ecuación, ya que todas las plataformas de videojuegos tienen su apartado online, con el cual pueden interactuar con miles de gamers sin importar la distancia.

Hace décadas el mundo de los videojuegos se basaba en juegos locales, es decir, se debía estar en la misma sala un grupo de personas para poder jugar a un mismo videojuego, pero esto fue cambiando progresivamente, obteniendo como resultado lo que conocemos en la actualidad, sin embargo, existe algo que está cambiando la forma de jugar u obtener los títulos que queremos, un servicio de una compañía que ya lleva cierto tiempo en el mercado, el Xbox Game Pass.

Este servicio fue anunciado por Microsoft en el E3 del 2017, describiéndolo como una biblioteca virtual de videojuegos los cuales se podían acceder mediante una suscripción mensual, dicho catálogo estaría disponible en todas las consolas Xbox One. A pesar de que parecía algo innovador, este tipo de servicio ya lo ha aplicado otras empresas, el mejor ejemplo es Netflix.
This service was announced by Microsoft in the E3 of 2017, describing it as a virtual library of video games which could be accessed through a monthly subscription, this catalog would be available on all Xbox One consoles. Although it seemed innovative, this type of service has already been applied by other companies, the best example being Netflix.
Antiguamente, las películas y videojuegos se podían alquilar a través de ciertas empresas, la más famosa de ellas era Blockbuster, debías ir hasta su local y pagar por llevarte alguna película por tiempo limitado. Con el tiempo la era digital cambió todo lo anterior mencionado, ya las personas no tenían la necesidad de salir a buscar alguna película, solo necesitaban internet y estar suscritos a un servicio de películas online, es aquí cuando destaca Netflix, ya que fue el primero en tener esta visión hacia el futuro.
In the past, movies and video games could be rented through certain companies, the most famous of which was Blockbuster, you had to go to their location and pay to take a movie for a limited time. With time, the digital era changed all of the above, people no longer had the need to go out and look for a movie, they just needed the Internet and to be subscribed to an online movie service. This is when Netflix stands out, since it was the first to have this vision of the future.
A pesar que las películas y series ya tenían una biblioteca online, los videojuegos aún no se involucraban en algo parecido, sin embargo, Microsoft fue la primera empresa en darse cuenta del potencial que esto podía tener, por lo que decidió arriesgarse y montar una biblioteca virtual de videojuegos, rotándolos mensualmente para que el usuario tenga más variedad.
Although movies and series already had an online library, video games were not yet involved in something similar, however, Microsoft was the first company to realize the potential this could have, so it decided to take a risk and set up a virtual library of video games, rotating them monthly so that the user has more variety.
Como todo servicio online, tiene sus ventajas y desventajas, al tener una biblioteca de videojuegos virtual no tenemos la necesidad de comprarlos, solo necesitamos descargarlos a nuestra consola, esto representa una gran ventaja, sobre todo si eres un usuario que desea probar varios títulos sin necesidad de comprarlos, pero, si no tienes una buena conexión a internet, este servicio probablemente te dé problemas, este sería su principal desventaja.
Like any online service, it has its advantages and disadvantages, having a virtual video game library we do not have the need to buy them, we just need to download them to our console, this represents a great advantage, especially if you are a user who wants to try several titles without buying them, but, if you do not have a good internet connection, this service will probably give you problems, this would be its main disadvantage.
Probablemente en un futuro veamos otras compañías como Sony o Nintendo aplicando este tipo de servicio a sus videoconsolas, pero de momento, Microsoft es el que ha brillado en este aspecto, lanzando múltiples juegos al Xbox Game Pass. Es interesante ver como este tipo de acontecimientos cambian radicalmente la forma de jugar un videojuego, ya no hace falta un disco y una unidad lectora para jugar, simplemente seleccionar de un enorme catálogo el videojuego que deseamos probar, llegando al punto de no tener la necesidad de comprarlo.
Probably in the future we will see other companies like Sony or Nintendo applying this type of service to their video consoles, but for the moment, Microsoft is the one that has shone in this aspect, launching multiple games to the Xbox Game Pass. It is interesting to see how this type of events radically change the way of playing a video game, you no longer need a disc and a reader unit to play, simply select from a huge catalog the video game you want to try, reaching the point of not having the need to buy it.

I love the Xbox Game Pass. It allows me to play a bunch of cool games on my console or on PC.
Xbox Game Pass is veyr powerful, that's for sure. However, the future of video games is quite uncertain because everything is very dynamic.
