What is going on, guys? So the very first game I decided to play with my 3080 has got to be one of my favorite video games, and no it’s not hello kitty island adventure, but rather The Witcher 3! The game kicks six months after the events of The Witcher 2. We see Geralt and Vesmir tracking down Yennifer, who was just caught between a battle of two armies. But Yennifer isn’t the only thing Geralt has to worry about.
Stopping to make camp for the night, the two witchers catch some sleep, and Geralt has a restless night. He dreams that he is back in Kaer Morhen, with Ciri. The dream starts off simple enough, with Geralt going down to get Ciri.
Ciri, who was supposed to be studying with Vesmir, had vamoosed after Vesmir fell alseep. Instead of studying, she was on The Gauntlet training. Vesmir wasn’t too impressed, as he said training alone only emboldens one’s mistakes. Which, let’s be honest, this can 100% be applied to real life.
Making his way to The Gauntlet, Geralt starts telling the young witcher everything she was doing wrong. After she was finished on The Gauntlet, she hopped down and after giving her a talking to; it was time to meet the other Witchers down in the courtyard to train.
After racing Ciri down to the courtyard, we get to see just how sly she is. When being criticised by Vesmir for not studying, she lets him know that she did, by telling him the difference between a Ghoul and an Alghoul. I honestly loved this part. It shows just how smart Ciri is, even at a young age, and how much of a “quick” talker she is.
So it was time to train, and to get used to the controls. Now, when it comes to this game, I was honestly debating on whether or not to use a controller. I wasn’t sure how I’d like the keyboard and mouse. I’ve played and platinumed this game on the Playstation a bunch of times, so I’m not new to it, but getting use to using a keyboard and mouse took me a while.
After the tutorial is over, we get a cutscene where Ciri decides that she would try to show off. Knocking the helmet off of a training dummy, and over the walls of Kaer Morhen, she is tasked with recieving the helmet. But not everything is as it seems. Wrapped under the dummy was a human. Just then, the air turns cold, and it starts snowing. And The Wild Hunt appears. Geralt becomes frozen in place and before he could do anything, he gets cut down..
Waking up, Geralt has the choice on whether to tell Vesmir what he dreamt of. I decided that I would. Through the conversation, we learn that whenever Geralt had dreamt of Ciri in the past, it meant she was in trouble ( this is something that happens in the books). We also learn more about Yennifer. Yennifer had sent Geralt a letter, asking him to meet her somewhere, and that she still has a unicorn that her and Geralt used in bed.
When the sun comes up, it was time for the two witchers to continue on their hunt, but something else was hunting them. A group of ghouls end up attacking, and this here gives us our first true taste of combat. Now, I believe that the only way to play this game is on Death March, but since I am not used to the keyboard and mouse, I decided to through this on normal, which I later raised to hard.
The fight with the ghouls was tricky, mostly for the reason above. I found myself pressing other keys by mistake, and making stupid little mistakes, but I did end up killing them.
Once the Ghouls were defeated, Vesmir and Geralt head to White Orchard. The horse ride there was calm for a bit until they stumble upon a Griffin attack. A Griffin had attacked a merchant, killing his horse and munching down on it The two witchers were able to chase the Griffin off, but not before it wounds Vesmir.
The Merchant is grateful for the save, and tells Geralt that his sister runs the inn in White Orchard, and to tell her he sent him and that he would be treated like family.
The rest of the way to the inn was uneventful. At the inn, the duo introduced them to the innkeeper. After the introductions were done, Geralt started to ask around about Yennifer.
Geralt talked to a duo who didn’t want to talk. So to get them to talk, I used Axii on one of them. He’s friend didn’t like that, and tried to cause a scene, before Geralt was able to quiet him down.
I also talked to a scholar who wanted to write a book about the war. He didn’t have a lot of information, but he did teach Geralt how to play Gwent.
And lastly, we encounter a face that will become familiar when we start the Hearts of Stone DLC. Gaunter O’Dimm gives us the information we need. A nilfgardian scout saw Yennifer at the local outpost. With Yennifer’s location, Geralt heads out to find her.
Outside of the inn, a group of men are waiting for Geralt. I was able to use Axii to break some of the men up, but the others were looking for a fight, and I was ready to give them one. Fist fighting in this game has always been easy for me. All you’ve gotta do is parry at the right moment, and you can win pretty much any fist fight. So it’s safe to say I won this fight.
Before I went to the garrison, I came upon a quest. A blacksmith had his forge burned down and wanted us to find the arsonist. After following some foot tracks, we found the drunken culprit. Using Axii, I got him to follow Geralt back to the dwarf to turn him in.
Making my way to the garrison, we end up meeting with the commander. At first he seems like a decent guy. He is making a deal with a farmer for grain, and tells him he wants less than what the farmer actually offered.
Talking to this dude, it turns out that he does know where Yennifer is, but he wants something in return. The Griffin has been causing a lot of trouble, and he wants it dealt with. In exchange for it’s head, he would tell us where Yennifer is.
In order to take on the griffin, we needed a few things, Buckthorn and information. I sought a herbolist out for the Buckthorn, where she said that it could be found in the river. I also found out she was treating a victim of the attack. The victim would be dead within a couple of days, but we could try to use a Swallow potion to help heal her. The only problem was is that Witcher’s bodies are mutated to work with these potions and it could cause a huge amount of pain in the bodies of other people.
I would later choose to give her the potion. I headed out to get the Buckthorn.
When I got the Buckthorn, I met up with a hunter who knew where the griffins nest was. After helping him kill some wild dogs, we led us to where we needed to go.
We arrive at a campsite that once hosted Nilfgardian men, and it was a slaughter. Following the signs, Geralt was able to find the Griffin’s nest, where another Griffin laid dead. It was the other Griffin's mate. It turns out that the Nilfgardians snuck up on this Griffin while it was sleeping and slaughtered it. When it’s mate found it, it sought out revenage. And now it hunts the area for prey.
Returning to the inn, Geralt fills Vesmir in on the situation, in which he gives Geralt a crossbow. With that done, it was time to lure out the Griffin.
One thing I learned during my Death March playthroughs was that Quen is your best buddy, yet I didn’t and still don’t find that the case in this playthrough. Instead, I often find myself using Igni. And after a battle with the Griffin, with me trying to attack it from the sides rather than head on, I slayed the beast.
Returning to the garrison with the head, we see the commander talking to the same peasant as before. It turns out the grain he delivered was bad. The commander ordered him to be whipped, and after paying Geralt for the head, he told Geralt where Yennifer was, which was only a day’s ride away.
Back at the inn, Geralt let’s Vesmir know, but something was stirring at the inn. Before they could get out of there, a fight broke out, which ended with Geralt and Vesmir slaughtering a group of men. Outside, they are met by a group of guards that are being led by Yennifer.

Así que era hora de entrenar y acostumbrarse a los controles. Ahora, cuando se trata de este juego, honestamente estaba debatiendo si usar o no un controlador. No estaba seguro de cómo me gustaría el teclado y el mouse. He jugado y obtenido platino en este juego en Playstation varias veces, así que no soy nuevo en esto, pero me llevó un tiempo acostumbrarme a usar un teclado y un mouse.
Una vez que finaliza el tutorial, tenemos una escena en la que Ciri decide que intentará presumir. Envuelto debajo del maniquí había un humano. En ese momento, el aire se enfría y empieza a nevar. Y aparece La caza salvaje. Geralt se congela en su lugar y antes de que pueda hacer algo, lo cortan.
Al despertar, Geralt tiene la opción de contarle a Vesmir lo que soñó. Decidí que lo haría. A través de la conversación, nos enteramos de que cada vez que Geralt había soñado con Ciri en el pasado, significaba que estaba en problemas (esto es algo que sucede en los libros). También aprendemos más sobre Yennifer. Yennifer le había enviado una carta a Geralt, pidiéndole que se encontrara con ella en algún lugar, y que todavía tiene un unicornio que ella y Geralt usaban en la cama.
Cuando sale el sol, era hora de que los dos brujos continuaran con su cacería, pero algo más los perseguía. Un grupo de ghouls termina atacando, y esto aquí nos da nuestra primera muestra real del combate. Ahora, creo que la única forma de jugar este juego es en Death March, pero como no estoy acostumbrado al teclado y al mouse, decidí hacerlo en modo normal, que luego subí a difícil.
La pelea con los ghouls fue complicada, principalmente por la razón anterior. Me encontré presionando otras teclas por error y cometiendo pequeños errores estúpidos, pero terminé matándolos.
Una vez que los Ghouls fueron derrotados, Vesmir y Geralt se dirigieron a White Orchard. El paseo a caballo estuvo tranquilo por un momento hasta que se topan con un ataque de Griffin. Un grifo había atacado a un comerciante, matando a su caballo y devorándolo. Los dos brujos pudieron ahuyentar al grifo, pero no antes de que hiriera a Vesmir.
El comerciante está agradecido por la salvación y le dice a Geralt que su hermana dirige la posada en White Orchard, y que le diga que él lo envió y que lo tratarían como a una familia.
El resto del camino a la posada transcurrió sin incidentes. En la posada, el dúo les presentó al posadero. Después de que terminaron las presentaciones, Geralt comenzó a preguntar por Yennifer.
Geralt habló con un dúo que no quería hablar. Entonces, para que hablaran, usé Axii en uno de ellos. Al amigo de él no le gustó eso, y trató de causar una escena, antes de que Geralt pudiera calmarlo.
También hablé con un académico que quería escribir un libro sobre la guerra. No tenía mucha información, pero le enseñó a Geralt a jugar a Gwent.
Y, por último, nos encontramos con una cara que se volverá familiar cuando iniciemos el DLC de Hearts of Stone. Gaunter O'Dimm nos da la información que necesitamos. Un explorador nilfgardiano vio a Yennifer en el puesto de avanzada local. Con la ubicación de Yennifer, Geralt sale a buscarla.
Fuera de la posada, un grupo de hombres está esperando a Geralt. Pude usar Axii para separar a algunos de los hombres, pero los demás estaban buscando pelea y yo estaba listo para darles una. La lucha a puñetazos en este juego siempre ha sido fácil para mí. Todo lo que tienes que hacer es parar en el momento adecuado y puedes ganar prácticamente cualquier pelea a puñetazos. Así que es seguro decir que gané esta pelea.
Antes de ir a la guarnición, encontré una misión. A un herrero le quemaron la fragua y quería que encontráramos al pirómano. Después de seguir algunas huellas, encontramos al culpable borracho. Usando Axii, hice que siguiera a Geralt de regreso al enano para entregarlo.

Hablando con este tipo, resulta que sabe dónde está Yennifer, pero quiere algo a cambio. Griffin ha estado causando muchos problemas y quiere solucionarlo. A cambio de su cabeza, nos diría dónde está Yennifer.
Para enfrentarnos al grifo, necesitábamos algunas cosas, Buckthorn e información. Busqué a un herbolario para el Buckthorn, donde dijo que se podía encontrar en el río. También descubrí que estaba tratando a una víctima del ataque. La víctima estaría muerta en un par de días, pero podríamos intentar usar una poción Swallow para ayudar a curarla. El único problema es que los cuerpos de Witcher están mutados para funcionar con estas pociones y podría causar una gran cantidad de dolor en los cuerpos de otras personas.
Más tarde elegiría darle la poción. Me dirigí a buscar el Buckthorn.
Cuando conseguí el Buckthorn, me encontré con un cazador que sabía dónde estaba el nido de los grifos. Después de ayudarlo a matar algunos perros salvajes, nos guiamos a donde teníamos que ir.
Llegamos a un campamento que una vez albergó a hombres nilfgardianos, y fue una masacre. Siguiendo las señales, Geralt pudo encontrar el nido de Griffin, donde otro Griffin yacía muerto. Era el compañero del otro Griffin. Resulta que los nilfgardianos se acercaron sigilosamente a este Griffin mientras dormía y lo mataron. Cuando su compañero lo encontró, buscó venganza. Y ahora caza en la zona en busca de presas.
Al regresar a la posada, Geralt le cuenta a Vesmir sobre la situación, en la que le da a Geralt una ballesta. Con eso hecho, era hora de atraer al Griffin.
Una cosa que aprendí durante mis partidas de la Marcha de la Muerte fue que Quen es tu mejor amigo, pero no lo aprendí y todavía no encuentro que ese sea el caso en esta partida. En cambio, a menudo me encuentro usando Igni. Y después de una batalla con el Grifo, tratando de atacarlo por los lados en lugar de de frente, maté a la bestia.
Volviendo a la guarnición con la cabeza, vemos al comandante hablando con el mismo campesino de antes. Resulta que el grano que entregó era malo. El comandante ordenó que lo azotaran y, después de pagarle a Geralt por la cabeza, le dijo a Geralt dónde estaba Yennifer, que estaba a solo un día de camino.
De vuelta en la posada, Geralt le dice a Vesmir, pero algo se estaba moviendo en la posada. Antes de que pudieran salir de allí, estalló una pelea que terminó con Geralt y Vesmir matando a un grupo de hombres. Afuera, se encuentran con un grupo de guardias dirigidos por Yennifer.

Yup, they've got three games. The first one is only avalible on PC, the second you can get on PC or the xbox 360 and the third is avalible all around!

It is an excellent game, beautiful, if only the subtitles were a little bigger, in the second installment, they were also small. The post is quite nice.
You know this really is a solid game and for some reason I never really played all that far through it.

It's one of my all time favorites too!
Witcher 3 was a great game. It took a little getting used to but the gorgeous graphics really suck you in and plus the characters are all pretty great. It would be interesting if they remastered previous games from earlier in the series or if they did some prequel remakes from when Geralt was a lot younger.
