In my last Microsoft Flight sim post I made my way to the USA to Washington state. Now I'm in the progress of crossing the country in this 7 continent tour
You might wonder whether I get bored during the real-time flights I do. The answer is, no I don't. I really enjoy seeing nature, especially how the landscape changes over distances. I tend to fly at pretty low altitudes to get maximum visibility of the surrounding lands.
You can see the first part here Alaska to Canada
Second Part Canada to USA
So let's advance with the tour.
I started up this flight from Washington, from small Felts Airport.
Here you can see my journey this far. The orange line is the path of this post.
This dam is already in Idaho
My course was set to the south, soon I was above Payette National Forest. It was snowy there again.
For flying all over the world I use Cessna Citation CJ4 aircraft
I was also lucky with the weather in the mountains. Usually, it's cloudy as hell, especially in the north.
Southern Idaho farmlands.
I only flew over the edge of Arizona.
This is already northern Utah. A random ground-level shot
I ended up finishing this leg of a flight in a very small airport near Salt Lake flats named Lucin airport. I think it's not even a commercial airport really.
The flight from Washington to Utah took me 1.40 hours.
As I started up the next day, I set my course to the Salt lake city, I wanted to see how big it really is.
Above the Great Salt Lake
I was pretty amazed that Salt Lake City is actually pretty small.
From there it was a straight flight all over Utah
In Southern Utah, I saw an interesting place with cool natural formations. The location is a Cedar Breaks National Monument.
And here I am, in Arizona already, the land of canyons.
It never gets boring when you fly above the landscape like that.
Glen Canyon Dam is pretty much where the Grand Canyon begins. This river flows through there. I never went to the Grand Canyon because this is in another direction.
After that, I landed in Bedard airfield, also a small one. The flight from Lucin to Bedard took me again 1.40 hrs.
The next flight I did today, finished about an hour ago.
I started up from Bedard airfield Arizona and the weather was really bad, it was raining and I had a hard time seeing anything.
I flew back to the Utah border because there was one place I really wanted to see, Monument Valley. You definitely have seen pictures of this place.
As I said the weather was bad. I did my best to get the best shots of this place.
Definitely a special location. I would really like to go there in real life as well.
This is Mesa Verde National park in Colorado.
From there I drove a long way over New Mexico, I hardly saw any landscape because it was so cloudy and foggy. Honestly, there was not much to see anyway. Mostly just an empty desert landscape.
Finally, the clouds disintegrated a bit and I could see again, I had a waypoint set on a large array radio telescope ground, just wanted to check it out.
San Mateo Peak
I made my way to the Truth or Consequences airport, what a strange name. It's not too far from the Mexican border.
Flight from Bedard, Arizona to Truth and Consequences, New Mexico took me 1,20 hrs.
Uhh, this was a long one, but I hope you enjoy virtually see all over the world and follow my flights.
From here I think I will skip Mexico and fly east, to Florida and from there advancing to South-America.
Maybe even beginning the trip East today, I will see if the weather is ok because I don't want to fly in fog and clouds.
Yay, more of your flight. this is the part of the world I'm most familiar with! I have been to lots of southern Utah, it is wonderful. Canyonlands is definitely high on my list of places to go to soon.
Cool! You definitely should hike some canyons there. I would, if I lived relatively close enough 😀
I did some great hiking in Southern Utah last year.
