First Game of TFT Set 16!

in Hive Gaming13 hours ago

I played a few games in the new set and I'm happy to share one of them with you. I must say I'm very excited about this set. There are so many fun and rewarding compositions and so many new mechanics. I'll talk about all of them in time, but in this post I'll share a fun game rather than an informative one because I'm still learning myself.

You can watch the gameplay here:

The universes from the previous set are also present in this one. I don't think this beloved mechanic will be removed anytime soon, as it adds variety to the games.

I chose Raining Gold as my first augment. This is a classic augment. I didn't know what to play, but I had the idea of playing a Bard carry because Bards are played alongside Bruisers, and I almost have a 3-star Illaoi.

Not everyone sees Bard in their games. In fact, in a game, at most two people will see Bard in their shop because the new set introduced the locked champions mechanic. To unlock certain champions, you need to meet specific conditions. For example, to unlock Bard, you need to refresh the shop four times before the second-stage carousel. On the fourth refresh, Bard's lock is unlocked. Another great mechanic added in the new set is that champions you unlock will always appear in your shop on the next page. So, once you unlock a champion, you don't have to go out of your way to find them.

The early game was pretty good for me. I only lost once. All I need to do is get all my champions to 3 stars because Bard gets stronger for every 3-star champion on the board.

Mess Hall is a great augment for me because 10 seconds after the fight starts, my champions will gain 8% attack speed and their attacks will deal delicious magic damage. My Bruiser champions usually don't die in the first 10 seconds of a fight, so this augment is valuable.

When playing this composition, remember to search at level 6. Because the three main champions you're looking for are Bard, Sion, and Aphelios. All three champions are worth two gold. It's very important to get these three champions to 3 stars.

If I hadn't lost the fight at the start of the mid-game, I would have been on a big winning streak. I barely won the final fight. I won't always be on the losing side, right? :)

I encountered the first broken champion at the start of the fourth stage. Warwick's health wasn't decreasing at all. Yes, he's a four-gold champion, but I'm also in a very strong position. He shouldn't be able to defeat me so easily, especially since he seemed immortal—his health wasn't decreasing at all.

Money Monsoon is a new augment added to the game. It grants you 7 gold per turn. It sounds very powerful; we'll see if it actually is.

I got a little carried away with this augment and spent all my gold. I wish I could have also made Aphelios 3-starred at this point. If I could do that, I could focus much more comfortably on leveling up because there's nothing else left for me to do. I need to reach level 9 and even level 10 to strengthen my board.

In the end, Aphelios also reached 3 stars, but I lost a lot of time in the process. This will cost me in the endgame. I also lost a lot of close fights during this time. If Aphelios had been 3 stars, I would have won those too.

Look at this nonsense! A 2-star Warwick doesn't die throughout the fight without any health regeneration items and deals a whopping 19k damage. This is insane!

The reason I'm so surprised is that I can easily beat this powerful Demacia composition, but I have no chance against that composition.

My opponent was strong too, had a 3-star Graves, and was giving me a hard time, but at least Graves doesn't act like he's immortal despite having a health regeneration item.

Lol, the game kept forcing me to play against this Warwick composition over and over, and each time it got even more ridiculous. Warwick tanked way more damage this time and broke the damage record with 23,600.

Anyway, at least I secured a top 3 spot by eliminating the Graves composition. Now I might get lucky with matchups and end up 2nd.

Forget it! That didn't happen. I took some heavy losses and got eliminated in two rounds. The funnier thing is that it's totally normal for Warwick to be that durable compared to my opponent. I wonder how he'd feel if he were on the other side.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it. Don't share your thoughts in the comments. If you haven't played TFT before, now is the perfect time to give this set a try!
