My partner and I have been playing the hell out of Final Fantasy XIV. I'm really enjoying it!
At first I was a bit iffy due to past experiences in the game (almost 9 years ago) but things are much better now and I'm actually looking forward to progression, to finding new things, to obtaining shiny pets and mounts and new armours.
It's a new world to immerse myself into and I'm doing so whole-heartedly!
There are a lot of things in the game that bug the hell out of me, though. There are thrice as many things I find fantastic!!! But every time we play I find something to whinge about:
- Can only have one bag open at a time, making it a pain in the butt to move things around.
- Can't multitask with different windows open - character, inventory, crafting, etc. PAINFUL.
- The loading screens ohmygod.
- Notifications disappearing into a tiny section of the screen so I forget they're there.
- The voice acting is absolutely abysmal and I wish they'd stay quiet.
- Can't skip some cutscenes and I read faster than they're talking.
- We have to keep leaving party to do solo things instead of just being phased.
- So much back-and-forthing. Thankfully teleporting doesn't have a cooldown.
So while I'm staring lovingly into the graphics of my new world, it's not exactly rose-coloured.
Last night we hit level 50 and started doing some random "full party" things, which I guess are like raids, but, easier? And started getting the new currencies that will allow us to get stronger armour, weapons, and mounts and things!
I need 18 more of one currency so I can get this pretty white/pink wolf mount, and the other currency is going straight to new armour.
Also! When we finished the vanilla-game's main story quest, we got given a potion called ~Fantasia. Which allows you to edit your character free of charge. I was SO HAPPY about that, because my elf was starting to look weird and every time I saw her in cutscenes I cringed.
She is now an Au Ra, of the Xaela clan. A dragon person. And very short. Apparently lady dragon people don't grow taller than 5ft or so.
Without further ado, I'd like to share some more screenshots I've taken in this game of areas that I've just found picturesque and worthy of capturing.
Hope you enjoy!
Until next time,
Thanks for stopping by! ✨
La verdad es un juego de mi agrado, todo esto me lleva a la nostalgia, gracias por compartir.
I played this for a while back when it released. Got bored with the raiding then left it behind. Wish I had more time for MMOs these days but there’s just no chance I can fit any into my day. Lovely screenshots!
We played for a while back then too, however it didn't quite take our interest... in less than an hour we turned it off, not really giving it a chance. Loving it now though! 🙂
The gameplay experience has really sped up a bit! Apparently you used to have to do every single quest and kill a lot of superfluous things in order to level up appropriately - we only did the main campaign and a couple of random events that crossed our path. Definitely not playing anywhere near the levels I would have a decade ago, haha!
