I am sure that many of us, when we were kids, enjoyed a huge amount of video games where we only knew what to do, but we did not understand why, we just played and went to the rhythm of the game trying to understand at least the essential, our goal was only to have fun, considering the fact that we were not looking for reviews or the history of the game, we only knew what the game was telling us, and even then, sometimes it was difficult to understand, because some games were in Japanese or Chinese.

Among so many video games I experienced, there was one in particular in which today, despite having read its review and understand the why of many things, I still find it a totally weird game, mainly because of the theory that applies to its context, although really, both the games and the cartoons of those times, were quite strange, but still, they created great stories with which we grew up and today we question some of them because of their backgrounds.

Mappy was one of those games in which it was very easy to understand its objective, but in reality we did not understand very well why we were doing what we were doing, in this game we were a little mouse walking through a mansion and our goal was to collect all the objects on the stage without being touched by the cats that roamed the place trying to catch us.

This was a game that for more scenarios that I played, I never finished, and today I understand why, and is that the game had 256 levels, and to tell the truth, in each level the situation was more difficult, I will have completed in fact about 80 levels, it was strange, to be a police mouse and that the crooks were cats, when it would have been more normal that it was the opposite, or at least that the police was a dog.

Another strange thing but it was fun, was the ingenious fact that this platform game had to move around the stage, being this possible by jumping on a rope trampoline style, to move from one point to another, but the rope had a limit, and is that we could not jump indefinitely on it, because after several jumps it broke, therefore, the higher levels were quite complicated.

Something that I really liked about the game was its musical atmosphere and that demanded our ability to react to anticipate the movements of the computer and avoid being trapped, this was one of those games where you were required dexterity and a certain spatial sense, because we had to see in our mind a pattern of movement before doing it to ensure our integrity. A very fun game with which you can even make bets with friends trying to see who gets the farthest without being touched by one of the cats.

Another game that I want to add to this publication as rare games, is Tecmo World Cup Soccer, my favorite soccer video game on the nintendo NES, and perhaps those who have never played it may wonder what could make a soccer game rare, and fortunately that question has its answer.

The strange thing about World Cup Soccer, was that in order to steal the ball from the opponent, we had to literally sweep over the opponent and leave him lying on the ground, it was the only way we could recover the ball, and to this fact we had to add something even weirder, and that is that there was no option to sprint with our player to reach the opponent, so the only and ingenious way to reach the rival faster was to make sweeps again and again in the direction of our rival until we finally reached him, this was quite useful as we advanced, because the CPU increased the speed of its players and it was more difficult to score goals and reach our rival.

With all those weird things, it was still a great video game, in fact for me, it was the best soccer game I could enjoy on the NES, and I thought this game was very strange, until one day I met the popular soccer with powers on the PS1. Games that with all their strange things were very entertaining and we could spend a lot of time enjoying its gameplay, although there were even more NES soccer games with a strange but entertaining mechanics.

El videojuego más raro que he experimentado

PORTADA.png
