Hello pretty people of the internet!
The drawing of the day, (or rather, I should call it the drawing of the month, because I haven't had time or energy to draw almost anything in weeks), is a bit out of my comfort zone, not only in terms of colors but also in terms of subject matter, but you know that from time to time I like to try different things and so, when my best friend aka @rishahp asked (or rather, begged, hahaha) me to draw a new wallpaper design for his phone about one of his favorite video games, I took the challenge.
For this drawing I tried to adapt the aesthetics of this game with my drawing style. I'm not a person who plays a lot of games, my hobbies are reading, watching a movie once in a while or sleeping, so I had to do some deep research on the characters of this game to at least capture their essence. I tend to feel a little more pressure than usual when I have to draw or do something for someone close to me, since I'm afraid of disappointing someone who has seen closely the progress I've had through the years and who has supported me, but as soon as I showed the final result to Richie, all the doubts they had dissolved because he liked it a lot, which made me calm down and feel proud for him too.
Process:
Taking into account Richard's tastes, I wanted to do something with a color palette of similar shades, he likes to have backgrounds with somewhat sober colors and without exuberant elements, so I sought to design something that had few elements but that these were outstanding, according to the story of the game, of course.
I've never drawn a knight in armor, and after seeing some reference images, I admit I felt doubt when looking at the amount of layers of clothing that these can have on top... Going out of what I usually draw was not easy, I feared for a moment that I would not be able to finish it.
I know it looks like a big jump in difference from one image to the next, but after adding the base colors and shadows, I started to incorporate nuances. One of the things I wanted to make look semi-realistic was the armor. I like the texture of the metal, so I took my time to make the armor look shiny, I used some tips I've learned thanks to some videos on Tiktok about playing with curves and shimmer on the layer to make the metal look like metal and from time to time I alternated my approach to adding details on the clothing.
As I colored all the clothes on the character, I realized it wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be and set about doing the background.
I ended up modifying some things from the original idea I had for the background and what I did was to make it simpler, adding textures with the help of a couple of brushes to make the clouds and another one to make some kind of blood drops and then I made the sun and tried to fit it in a space that looked harmonious with the character.
And basically that was the whole procedure, this was the final result, what do you think?
I know that many in this community are Dark Souls fans so I hope this drawing was to your liking. (:

El dibujo del día, (o más bien, debería llamarlo el dibujo del mes, porque no he tenido tiempo o energía de dibujar casi nada en semanas), está un poco fuera de mi zona de confort, no solo en término de colores sino también de temática, pero ya saben que de vez en cuando me gusta probar cosas diferentes y por eso, cuando mi mejor amigo aka @rishahp me pidió (o más bien, rogó, jajaja) que le dibujara un nuevo diseño de fondo de pantalla para su teléfono sobre uno de sus videojuegos favoritos, asumí el reto.
Para este dibujo traté de adaptar la estética de este juego con mi estilo de dibujo. No soy una persona que juegue muchas cosas, mis pasatiempos son leer, ver una película de vez en cuando o dormir, por eso tuve que hacer una investigación algo profunda de los personajes de este juego para al menos capturar su esencia. Suelo sentir un poco más de presión de lo normal cuando debo dibujar o hacer algo para alguien cercano, puesto que me da temor decepcionar a alguien que ha visto de cerca el progreso que he tenido a través de los años y que me ha apoyado, pero en cuanto le mostré el resultado final a Richie, todas las dudas que tenían se disolvieron porque le gustó muchísimo, lo cual me hizo tranquilizarme y sentirme orgullosa también por él.
Proceso:
Teniendo en cuenta los gustos de Richard, quise hacer algo con una paleta de colores de tonalidades similares, a él le gusta tener fondos con colores un poco sobrios y sin elementos exuberantes, así que busqué diseñar algo que tuviera pocos elementos pero que estos fueran destacables, acordes a la historia del juego, por supuesto.
Nunca he dibujado un caballero con armadura, y tras ver algunas imágenes de referencia, admito que sentí duda al fijarme en la cantidad de capas de ropa que estos pueden tener encima… Salir de lo que suelo dibujar no fue sencillo, temí por un momento que no fuera capaz de terminarlo.
Sé que se ve un gran salto de diferencia entre una imagen y otra, pero luego de añadir los colores y las sombras base, empecé a incorporar matices. Una de las cosas que quería que se vieran semirrealistas fue la armadura. Me gusta la textura del metal, así que me tomé mi tiempo para hacer que la armadura se viera brillante, usé algunos tips que he aprendido gracias a algunos videos en Tiktok sobre jugar con las curvas y el brillo sobre la capa para hacer que el metal se viera como tal y de vez en cuando alternaba mi enfoque a añadir detalles sobre la ropa.
Conforme coloreé todas las prendas del personaje, me di cuenta que no fue tan complicado como pensé que sería y me dispuse a hacer el fondo.
Terminé por modificar algunas cosas de la idea original que tenía para el fondo y lo que hice fue hacerlo más simple, añadiendo texturas con ayuda de un par de pinceles para hacer las nubes y otro para hacer una especie de gotas de sangre, luego hice el sol y traté de ajustarlo en un espacio que se viera armónico con el personaje.
Y básicamente fue todo el procedimiento, este fue el resultado final ¿ustedes qué opinan?
Sé que muchos en esta comunidad son fan de Dark Souls así que espero que este dibujo haya sido de su agrado. (:

Awesome! We actually just finished playing through Dark Souls 3. Love the dark atmosphere in that game, and this piece does a great job of portraying that. Especially with the eclipse!!

This saga will always continue many fans to this fabulous title I was able to play some parts of the first installments and I was fascinated from the beginning.
Wow you're done a good job with this. But as long as I know, hivegc is not the best fit for a drawing post (leaving my opinion only, don't take it negative please).
I'd like to see such a drawing of Kratos from God of War. Or I may give it a try as well.
