En cuanto a la historia el protagonista es Ratchet un mecánico de a raza lombax, que vive con su padrastro y sueña con convertirse en un ranger galáctico, muy al estilo Star Wars, un día un robot defectuoso escapa de la fábrica del malvado presidente Drek y del Dr Nefarius. Por lo que estos envían a Victor Von a destruir al robot, el robot logra escapar en un barco pero se estrella contra Vledin donde es salvado por Ratchet quien nombra a este robot defectuoso como Clank , naciendo así esta inseparable pareja y esta saga de plataformas tan divertida. Clank le cuenta a Ratchet de los planes del Dr Nefarius y compañía lo que desencadena todos los acontecimientos del juego. Todo ocurre casi igual , visitas los mismos planetas pero esta vez siempre hay algo diferente además de que tendremos un narrador inesperado, que es nuestro querido Capitán Qwark.
