Pokémon is one of those franchises where despite spreading across so many titles, they all tend to be received very positively by at least a good portion of their fans.

Let's see if I can explain myself better: if at some point in your life you played Pokémon it is quite likely that you have a strong criterion of which is (according to your standards) the best game of all the series, its level of quality and consistency makes that despite all of them being slightly repetitive there are several worthy contenders as to which is the best.

I personally grew up with FireRed and then tried HeartGold, if you ask me for me those are the pinnacle of the franchise and they represent all the good they have to offer, but what about the others?

Pokémon Emerald is a 2004 game that perfectly synthesizes the Gamefreak quality seal, at the same time that it works as a reissue of Saphire and Ruby, two titles that started the third generation of Pokémon in the Hoenn region. Although it is far from being my favorite installment, it is undeniable that it has a series of objective factors that elevate its status as one of the best RPGs in the Gameboy Advance.

The key to Esmeralda is knowing how to take a formula that was already quite good and refine it even more, although the graphical improvements are almost imperceptible to its predecessors, if there are a couple of details that make it a much more pleasant adventure, although I always preferred The graphic style of FireRed and LeafGreen, Emerald is timeless and brilliantly represents its own atmosphere, full of beaches, forests, towns and almost futuristic cities.

The true substance of this reissue is in the playable plane, from a double battle system, a battlefront and many mini-games presented as contests. Every aspect of Esmeralda feels like a remix on what was previously seen and its own story complements this.

If I had to put aside my prejudices with this game I would say that its greatest achievement is to deliver a genuinely immersive experience, its RPG nature is used better than ever with its immense amount of mechanics, from a cell phone (Under the name of Poke- Nav), even a lair system that we can customize, although several of these elements were already present in Rubí and Safiro, many are innovations typical of this game.

It is as if Esmeralda actively invites us to spend time in her universe, it never feels expendable or disposable, but perpetual and unlimited. It may not be the longest or the one with the deepest story (The titles that followed worked a lot on this, especially in the Nintendo DS era), but it is iconic and fun.

I always preferred FireRed and LeafGreen, but compared to games like Emerald I have nothing but infinite appreciation, not only were they brilliant pieces that innovated on a format that was already well established and worked, but they stayed in the hearts of thousands of people in the meantime.

God, brutal, I loved this Pokémon. For me it is easily in the top 5, I did not play it in GBA, but in DS and apparently it is almost the sama.

Yes! It’s an amazing game bro, thanks for your comment 😁

Great 😁❤️ Thanks
