It seems that I can never get enough of my opinions, I've taken a liking to every now and then take a day to talk about something that isn't a specific game, but something more general, just chill, and sit back and wait for the insults to come (just kidding).

Sega vs Nintendo, PlayStation or Xbox, FIFA or PES (although the latter is now eFootball), Overwatch or Paladins, PUBG or Fortnite, Goku or Naruto, omelette with onion or without onion, Half-Life or Hollow Knight, Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask, and I'd better stop, but there are dozens, hundreds, thousands of examples of conflicts through time.

Obviously I didn't even think about being born when Sega and Nintendo had a fierce fight where both aimed at each other's necks, with advertising directly opposed to the competition, battling to prove which was the "coolest", the good one, the best one, the one you SHOULD buy INSTEAD the other, and although today the advertising is much less "direct", I use the example of Sega and Nintendo because it is exactly what I see on Twitter every time I enter every day, with the difference that it isn't the companies that are responsible for promoting this, but the "fans".

Dude, "the PS5 leaks liquid metal", "the X Series smokes", "the PS5 overheats", "the Xbox has no exclusives", "the PS4 has less teraflops than my Xbox One", "the "poorpass" is garbage", and lots and lots of problems and excuses that, regardless of whether they are real or not, general or not, are (or were) used as a spearhead in any "sonyers vs xboxers" debate.

Personally, I don't care about your teraflops, or your exclusives, or how many fps your gaminjjjjjjj pc can reach (when your monitor is barely 60 Hz), I just want to enjoy the things I play and share that passion with everyone who is interested, I mean, there is nothing wrong with being an enthusiast and wanting 2000 FPS, but when that becomes an excuse to put yourself above someone else, it loses validity.

Although at the moment I only talk about hardware, I wanted to give my general opinion about it, be it consoles, videogames, and even other things, but in this community what we are interested in are videogames and I'll stay in that topic.

I can't say that I've never fallen into these things, as it's something 99.9% of all of us fall into sometime to a greater or lesser extent, blinded by fanaticism, immaturity, ignorance, or at worst a mix of all three, but eventually there comes a point where so much discussion, comparison and bickering gets tiring. Unfortunately, in this industry there will always be 3 things that will never go away, the companies that look for every penny of your money, the "fanboys", and the people that don't know what water with soap is, what am I trying to say with this?, nothing, I just wanted to make a joke about "gamers" not taking a bath, I was going to make a joke about LoL players, but besides that is a very worn out stereotype now I play LoL too, so my joke is totally invalidated haha.

Continuing with what I was saying, although the term usually carries a derogatory meaning, being a "fanboy" is not a bad thing at all, it's just someone who's a big fan of something, the matter is twisted when that fanaticism of yours for something, prevents you from being able to enjoy something similar, makes you want to degrade that something, or defend to the hilt the company that gave you that thing you like so much, when it shouldn't be like that (thanks for the obviousness), my point is that the fact that your fanaticism makes you close yourself to other things is stupidity.

I'm going to give you a personal example, when Overwatch came out it reached so much that it won the 2016 TGA for Game of the Year, we are talking about a multiplayer game with no campaign, and paid, entirely online, winning the game of the year award, whether you agree with this or not (I did, not so much anymore) you can't deny the repercussion that the game had. What happens every time a game hits hard, curiously similar games come out trying to hang on the success of the one that gave the bombshell.

This is where Paladins comes in, at the time I saw the game and I thought "this is Overwatch but with horses", there were things very similar to Overwatch, and in my 15 years old mind I took quite hate to Paladins because of that (without having played either of them), on the other hand Overwatch was something I always wanted to play, years later I could play Overwatch in a free weekend at a friend's house, and the truth is that the game was very good, it was everything I expected, with the exception that it took up to 20 minutes to find a game.

What happened then, well... in my friend's pc Paladins was also installed, and I opened it with all the contempt in the world, in that couple of years my opinion hadn't changed too much about the game, but when I looked for a match and found it in 30 seconds or less, and REALLY tried the game, my opinion was changing in each game, in short Paladins is a great game that I didn't appreciate, and it made me feel stupid to treat so badly a game that I didn't even know beyond a couple of gameplays.

If we go by the facts, Overwatch was announced before Paladins, and if you ask me, Paladins has several heroes with similarities to Overwatch, but on the other hand, Brigitte from Overwatch looks TOO much like Ash from Paladins, so I'm not going to get into the "plagiarism or not plagiarism" issue since it has nothing to do with what we're talking about nor have I done enough research to talk about it.

If you want my opinion about each game, I like the characters of Overwatch more, during all these years I followed each of their animated shorts that I think are wonderful for their level of detail, but if I want to sit down to play properly, I would surely choose Paladins, because although I don't have that "connection" with the characters, their gameplay is very enjoyable and versatile, plus its free.

Years have passed, and although the trends change, the conflicts remain, as I said it's quite tiring, and I think you can expect my conclusion, don't defend any company as if it were your mother, and don't stop playing one thing for another, when you can play both and see which is better in which aspects, I'm not saying you have to like everything, because not all of us play absolutely everything, in my case I don't play the vast majority of games based on sports, that's just my personal taste, but the point is that if you don't play something, it's not because of fanaticism to something else, and that's all, play and let play haha, that's what I wanted to say, thank you very much for reading.

Obviamente yo ni pensaba en nacer cuando Sega y Nintendo tenían una lucha encarnizada donde ambas apuntaban al cuello de la otra, con publicidad directamente opuesta a la competencia, batallando por demostrar cuál era la más “cool”, la buena, la mejor, la que debías comprar, y aunque hoy día la publicidad es bastante menos “directa”, uso el ejemplo de Sega y Nintendo porque es exactamente lo que veo en Twitter cada vez que entro todos los días, con la diferencia de que no son las compañías las que se encargan de promover esto, son los “fans”.

Que si “a la PS5 se le derrama el metal líquido”, “es que la Series X echa humo”, “la PS5 se sobrecalienta”, “la Xbox no tiene exclusivos”, “la PS4 tiene menos teraflops que mi Xbox One”, “el “pobrepass” es una basura”, y montones y montones de problemas y excusas que, indiferente de si son reales o no, generales o no, se usan (o usaban) como punta de lanza en cualquier debate de “sonyers vs pileros”.

Personalmente, no me importan ni tus teraflops, ni tus exclusivos, ni a cuantos fps puede llegar tu pc gaminjjjjj (cuando tu monitor apenas es de 60 Hz), yo solo quiero disfrutar las cosas que juego y compartir esa pasión con todo el que le interese, que sí, no hay nada malo en ser un entusiasta y querer 2000 FPS, pero cuando eso se convierte en una excusa para ponerte por encima de alguien más, pierde validez.

Aunque de momento hable solo de hardware, quería dar mi opinión general al respecto, sea consolas, videojuegos, e incluso otras cosas, pero en esta comunidad lo que nos interesa son los videojuegos y me quedaré en ese tópico.

Y para quien me vea peleando por Discord con @rishahp sobre si Half-Life es mejor que Hollow Knight o no, es irónico, no cuenta, además que es obvio que Hollow Knight es mejor, eso ni se debate (tqm Risha).

No puedo decir que yo no he caído nunca en estas cosas, pues es algo en lo que el 99.9% de todos nosotros caemos alguna vez en mayor o menor medida, cegados por el fanatismo, la inmadurez, la ignorancia, o en el peor de los casos una mezcla de las tres cosas, pero eventualmente llega un punto en el que tanta discusión, comparativa y trifulca cansa. Lamentablemente, en esta industria siempre habrá 3 cosas que no desaparecerán jamás, las empresas que buscan cada centavo de tu dinero, los fanboys, y la gente que no sabe lo que es el agua con jabón, ¿qué intento decir con esto?, realmente nada, solo quería hacer un chiste sobre que los “gamers” no se bañan, iba a hacer un chiste sobre los jugadores de LoL, pero aparte que es un estereotipo muy gastado ahora yo también juego LoL, así que mi chiste queda totalmente invalidado haha.

Continuando con lo que decía, aunque el término suele llevar un significado despectivo, realmente un “fanboy” no es algo malo, es simplemente alguien muy fan de una cosa, el asunto se tuerce cuando ese fanatismo tuyo por algo, te impide ser capaz de disfrutar algo similar, hace que quieras degradar a ese algo, o defender a capa y espada a la empresa que te dio esa cosa que tanto te gusta, cuando no debería ser así (gracias por la obviedad), mi punto es que el hecho de que tu fanatismo te haga cerrarte a otras cosas es una estupidez.

Voy a darles un ejemplo personal, cuando salió Overwatch llegó a tanto que ganó el TGA 2016 a Juego del Año, hablamos de un juego multijugador sin campaña, y de pago, enteramente online, ganando el premio a juego del año, estés de acuerdo con esto o no (yo lo estaba, ya no tanto) no se puede negar la repercusión que tuvo el juego. ¿Qué ocurre cada vez que un juego pega fuerte?, salen juegos curiosamente similares que intentan colgarse del éxito del que dio el bombazo.

Aquí es donde entra Paladins, en su momento vi el juego y pensé “esto es Overwatch pero con caballos”, había cosas muy similares a Overwatch, y en mi cabeza de 15 años le tomé bastante hate a Paladins por eso (sin haber jugado a ninguno de los dos), por su parte Overwatch era algo que siempre quise jugar, años después pude jugar Overwatch en un fin de semana gratuito en casa de un amigo, y la verdad es que el juego estaba muy bien, era todo lo que esperaba, con la excepción de que tardaba hasta 20 minutos en encontrar una partida.

¿Qué sucedió luego?, pues en la pc de mi amigo también estaba instalado el Paladins, y lo abrí con todo el desprecio del mundo, en ese par de años mi opinión no había cambiado demasiado respecto al juego, pero cuando busco partida y la encuentra en 30 segundos o menos, y REALMENTE pruebo el juego, mi opinión fue cambiando en cada partida, en resumen Paladins es un juegazo que no supe apreciar, y me hizo sentir estúpido el hecho de tratar tan mal un juego que ni siquiera conocía más allá de un par de gameplays.

Si nos vamos a los datos, Overwatch fue anunciado primero que Paladins, y si me lo preguntas, Paladins tiene varios héroes con similitudes a los de Overwatch, pero por otra parte, Brigitte de Overwatch se parece DEMASIADO a Ash de Paladins, así que yo en el tema de “plagio o no plagio”, no me voy a meter ya que no tiene nada que ver con lo que estamos hablando ni he hecho la suficiente investigación para hablar del tema.

Si quieren mi opinión sobre cada juego, me gustan más los personajes de Overwatch, durante todos estos años seguía cada uno de sus cortos animados que me parecen una maravilla por su nivel de detalle, pero si quiero sentarme a jugar propiamente, seguramente elegiría Paladins, pues aunque no tengo esa "conexión" con los personajes, su gameplay es muy disfrutable y versátil.

Han pasado años, y aunque las tendencias cambian, los conflictos se mantienen, como dije el tema cansa bastante y se podrán esperar mi conclusión, no defiendan a ninguna compañía como si fuera su madre, y no dejen de jugar a una cosa por otra, cuando pueden jugar a ambas y ver cuál es mejor en cuales apartados, tampoco digo que les tenga que gustar todo, porque no todos jugamos a absolutamente todo, en mi caso no toco la gran mayoría de juegos basados en deportes, solo que eso ya es por gusto personal, pero el punto es que si no juegan a algo, que no sea por fanatismo a otra cosa, y eso es todo, jueguen y dejen jugar haha, eso es lo que quería decir, muchas gracias por leer.

Ser fanboy no está mal, porque nunca está mal amar algo con pasión, pero lo que sí está mal es colocar tu pasión por encima de la realidad de ese algo, y usarla como excusa para defender todas las malas prácticas que puedan ejercer. O no admitir lo que está mal, no querer verlo y atacar a cualquiera que no piense como tú. Y esto no solo aplica en el mundo de los videojuegos, si no de cualquier cosa en general. Es cansado ver como personas te atacan y te tachan de ignorante o tóxico por solo no pensar como ellos, la toxicidad que existe entre los jugadores, entre discutir qué empresa es mejor, qué juego es mejor, y el caso de Paladins vs Overwatch es el mejor caso. Dos juegos similares pero a la vez extremadamente distintos (para nada comparable con el tópico de los Battle Royale que prácticamente son todos iguales). Cada juego brilla a su manera y cada uno tiene sus cosas buenas y cosas malas, pero con el mismo fin: ENTRETENER. ¿Para qué discutir cuál es mejor? ¿Para qué discutir si Paladins le copia a Overwatch? ¿Para qué discutir cuál tiene mejores gráficos o mejor jugabilidad? ¿Para qué vamos a discutir cuando nuestro único fin es querer poner a un juego por encima del otro sin importar qué? Los valores más importantes de una discusión es la objetividad, saber diferenciar lo que está bien en comparación a lo que no te gusta. Es como decir, a mí no me gustan los juegos por turnos, pero no quito que sean buenos juegos y sé el motivo del porqué les gusta a las personas. No sirve de nada discutir si nuestro único fin es con todo lo posible demostrar que nuestro juego es mejor porque si y porque nosotros lo dictamos. Y ese es el gran problema de las personas, el gran problema de las discusiones, las personas que quieren tomar sus opiniones como hechos.
