Good morning, afternoon or evening, depending on when you are reading this. Today I come to participate in this contest proposed by @hivegc for the Hive Gaming community. I'm supposed to capture here my best memories about my childhood video games or something like that, I didn't understand very well, because it makes me lazy to read. If I'm honest, almost all of them are half fuzzy, so maybe they are not in order, but to keep an order I'll do it through consoles. Maybe the consoles I mention to you may not seem classic to you, but to me they are. Well, I don't want to go around anymore so let's start.
Buenos días, tardes o noches, dependiendo de cuando estés leyendo esto. Hoy vengo a participar en este concurso propuesto por @hivegc para la comunidad de Hive Gaming. Se supone que debo plasmar acá mis mejores recuerdos sobre los videojuegos de mi infancia o algo así, no entendí muy bien, porque me da flojera leer. Si les soy sincero casi todos son medio difusos así que quizás no estén ordenados, pero para llevar un orden lo haré mediante consolas. Quizás las consolas que mencione a ustedes no les puedan parecer clásicas, pero para mí sí lo son. Bueno, no quiero dar más vueltas así que comencemos.
It is worth noting before we start (I know I said I wasn't going to go any further but still) that I was born in 2000. So you won't find those old boomer things like Galaga, that Ping Pong game or any other archaic game that you might have played. Still, I consider myself a retro gamer with a fondness for 2D graphics and old games that came out before I was born. Besides, nowadays the things I play must have a similar aspect to that of long ago. So without more, now we do begin with the anecdotes, hahaha.
Cabe resaltar antes de comenzar (sí dije que no iba a dar más vueltas pero igual) que nací en el 2000. Así que no encontrarán esas cosas viejas de boomers como podria ser el Galaga, el jueguito ese del Ping Pong o cualquier otro juego de esos arcaicos que ustedes quizás si hayan jugado. Aún así, me considero un gamer retro con afición a los gráficos 2D y a juegos viejos que salieron antes de yo haber nacido. Además de que actualmente las cosas que juego deben tener un aspecto similar a ese de antaño. Así que sin más, ahora sí comencemos con las anécdotas, jajaja.
The chinese NES
As many people know, the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES is a prehistoric thing that came out around 1985 and 1987, I don't really know, I'm bad with dates and that's the least important part of this story. But you know usually people make introductions before they get to the point in question that they are going to explain. The thing is that I didn't have the original, but a Chinese copy that was still served by those NES cartridges or some similar ones. I remember that at that time my sister was not yet born, I was about 3 years old. How do I remember this? I have no idea, but it is something that is very clear in my mind. The thing is that I accompanied my mom and dad to a flea market very close to where I live. They bought me that console that came with those pirate cartridges of 100 games in 1. The place where it was placed for my enjoyment was an empty room, which would later become my sister's. In that place there was only a chair and a TV, besides the console. I remember that the only thing I played and loved to play was a Mario. A difficult Mario, you literally started in a world full of turtles throwing hammers. I could never find Mario alone among so many games, so I always asked my brother for help. He rarely got it easily. The truth is that my fun with it didn't last long, one day I went out with my mom and dad to do something, I had left the console on, and when I came back...
Como muchos sabrán la Nintendo Entertainment System o NES es una cosa prehistórica que salió más o menos por los 1985 y 1987, la verdad no sé, soy malo con las fechas y esto es lo menos importante de ésta anécdota. Pero ustedes saben usualmente la gente hace introducciones antes de llegar al punto en cuestión que van a explicar. La cosa es que yo no tuve la original, sino una copia china que igualmente le servían aquellos cartuchos de la NES o unos parecidos. Recuerdo que por aquellos tiempos mi hermana aún no había nacido, yo tendría como unos 3 años aproximadamente. ¿Cómo recuerdo esto? Ni idea, pero es algo que tengo muy claro en mi mente. La cosa es que acompañé a mi mamá y papá a un mercado de pulgas muy cerca del lugar donde vivo. Me compraron aquella consola que venía con esos cartuchos piratas de 100 juegos en 1. El lugar donde fue colocada paea mi disfrute era un cuarto vacío, que luego sería el de mi hermana. En aquel sitio solo había una silla y un televisor, además de la consola. Recuerdo que lo único que jugaba y me encantaba jugar era un Mario. Un Mario dificil, literalmente iniciabas en un mundo lleno de las tortugas que lanzaban martillos. Yo nunca podía encontrar el Mario solo entre tantos juegos, así que siempre le pedía ayuda a mi hermano. Raramente el lo conseguía fácilmente. La verdad es que mi diversión con ella no duró mucho, un día salí con mi mamá y papá a hacer alguna cosa, había dejado la consola prendida, y al volver...

The Age of PC I: The Ban of Counter-Strike
This is something very, very curious. I do not remember very well when my parents bought the PC, but I do know that it was mine, it was technically in my room, it was one of the most advanced for that time, having a floppy disk and DVD reader. As such, as a good child, what I wanted was to play. So my mom got me some games all "indies" or homemade with which I could have fun, one was a platform game in the style of Mario, another was that of a castaway who had to escape from an island, another was a simple animation with the song "El Gato Volador". I think my mom didn't check the content of the floppy disk very well, because technically there was a card game that as you were winning, the woman you chose was taking off her clothes. I never managed to win completely anyway, hahaha. That was one of my first experiences in the PC field, but everything changed one day...
Esto es algo muy pero muy curioso. No recuerdo muy bien cuando fue que me compraron la PC, pero sí sé que era mía, estaba técnicamente en mi cuarto, era una de las más avanzadas para aquella época, contando con un lector de disquetes y DVD. Como tal, como buen niño, yo lo que quería era jugar. Así que mi mamá me consiguió unos juegos todo "indies" o caseros con los cuales podría divertirme, uno era un juego de plataformas al estilo de Mario, otro era el de un náufrago que tenía que escapar de una isla, otro era una simple animación con la canción "El Gato Volador". Creo que mi mamá no revisó muy bien el contenido del disquete, porque técnicamente había un juego de cartas que conforme ibas ganando, la mujer que elegías se iba quitando prendas de ropa. Igual nunca conseguí ganar totalmente, jajaja. Esos fueron una de mis primeras experiencias en el ámbito de PC, pero todo cambió un día...
I remember that CD as if it were yesterday, it was a beautiful CD that was stamped with a terrorist and a counter-terrorist. I knew I had to play it. It was the first time I had ever played something like that, so after my dad installed it, I proceeded to get hooked, every day was playing Counter-Strike. I guess this is the first game I have dedicated hours and hours to. I got to develop expertise with the sniper, getting to kill 99 bots per game. I never got to play online or anything like that, they were all bots in easy, hahaha. I still thought I was an expert.
Recuerdo aquél CD como si fuera ayer, era un precioso CD que estaba estampado con un terrorista y un contraterrorista. Sabía que tenía que jugarlo. Era la primera vez que vía algo como eso, así que después de mi papá me lo instalara, procedí a enviciarme, todos los días era jugar Counter-Strike. Supongo que este es el primer juego al que le habré dedicado horas y horas. Llegué a desarrollar experticia con el sniper, llegando a matar 99 bots por partidas. Nunca llegué a jugar online ni nada por el estilo, eran puros bots en fácil, jajaja. Igualmente me creía un experto.
Everything was sad when my mom forbade me to play it and my dad proceeded to uninstall the computer game. I was left with nothing to play. Here in Latin America there was a fashion of saying that everything was satanic and it turns out that this was one of these things for my bad luck. Bad ending.
Todo fue triste cuando mi mamá me lo prohibió y mi papá procedió a desinstalar el juego de la computadora. Me quedé sin nada a qué jugar. Acá en la Latinoamérica había una moda de decir que todo era satánico y resulta que esto era una de éstas cosas para mi mala suerte. Final malo.
The Age of PC II: The prohibition of the GTA San Andreas but with a good ending
In these times we were still in fashion that any game that had weapons was satanic or influenced children to be vandals. The GTA: San Andreas was the popular and booming game, in all the places where they rented PCs by the hour you could find it so you could enjoy it. It reached a point that even the president of my country at that time prohibited it, without a doubt something completely crazy. Do you know what the good thing was? That no matter how much I do, no one can ban a game and its distribution, even more so when we have the Internet in our possession. So every time I went to my grandmother's house I spent time with my cousins playing GTA, even though our moms scolded us to stop playing it. Sometimes we changed and played Medal of Honor or similar, or if we got bored, we watched Saint Seiya. Without a doubt, a happy ending.
En éstos tiempos todavía estábamos con la moda de que cualquier juego que tuviera armas era satánico o influía en que los niños fueran unos vándalos. El GTA: San Andreas era el juego popular y en auge, en los todos los locales donde se rentaban PC por hora podías encontrarlo para que dosfrutaras de él. Llegó a un punto que hasta el presidente mi país en ese momento llegó a prohibirle, sin lugar a dudas algo completamente loco. ¿Saben que fue lo bueno? Que nadie por mucho que haga puede prohibir un juego y su distribución, más habiendo en nuestro poder el internet. Así que cada vez que iba a casa de mi abuela me la pasaba con mis primos jugando al GTA, aunque nuestras mamás nos regañaran para que dejasemos de jugarlo. A veces cambiabamos y jugábamos Medal of Honor o similares, o si nos aburriamos, veíamos Saint Seiya. Sin lugar a dudas, un final feliz.
The Nintendo DS, the console that trapped me in the world of videogames
Do you see that chubby boy all happy with his brothers? Well, that one, my friends. That's me. At that time we were in an important Mario Kart game.
¿Ves a ese niño regordete todo feliz junto a sus hermanos? Pues ese, amigos míos. Soy yo. En esos momentos nos encontrábamos en una importante partida de Mario Kart.
My mom had given me my Nintendo DS for Christmas, just like my other two brothers. My first game was Mario Kart. Without a doubt until today, one of the best games I have played in my life, to this day it is still very fun to play with friends. We each had a different game, but most of the time we spent together connected playing Mario Kart. Sometimes we would lend our dad the DS so he could play that fun game too, I remember that his favorite character was Wario. Mine was Dry Bones, when I unlocked it, I never stopped playing with it.
Mi mamá me había regalado mi Nintendo DS en Navidad, al igual que a mis otros tres hermanos. Mi primer juego fue Mario Kart. Sin dudas hasta hoy, uno de los mejores juegos que he jugado en mi vida, al día de hoy sigue siendo muy divertido jugar con amigos. Cada uno teníamos un juego diferente, pero la mayor parte del tiempo nos la pasábamos juntos conectados jugando al Mario Kart. A veces les prestabamos el DS a nuestro papá para que él también jugara aquel divertido juego, recuerdo que su personaje favorito era Wario. El mío fue Huesitos, cuando lo desbloqueé, nunca paré de jugar con él.
My second game for this wonderful console was a Dragon Ball game, which in spite of being in English, I enjoyed it completely. As a child I had no command of that language, so by that time it was quite an achievement. It was a good RPG which I enjoyed a lot. After that my mom decided to buy me another game, well, in itself, she let me choose from all those that caught my attention, I chose Pokémon Platinum. The first Pokémon game I ever played in my life, and a love for life. Unfortunately I couldn't enjoy it to the fullest, the cartridge was bad and it wouldn't let me save the game. Besides, it was a game in English again. Being in my grandmother's house on my father's side, I discovered the existence of something called R4. It was a cartridge that allowed you to introduce a lot of games. For me it was crazy. So instead of asking my mom for another game, I asked her for that fantastic cartridge. Which to my surprise came with a CD included with a lot of games to choose from.
Mi segundo juego para esta maravillosa consola fue un juego de Dragon Ball, que a pesar de estar en inglés me lo pasé completo. Siendo un niño no tenía dominio acerca de ese idioma, así que para ese momento fue todo un logro. Era un buen RPG con el cual disfruté mucho. Después de ese mi mamá decidió comprarme otro juego, bueno, en sí, me dejó elegir de todos los que me llamaron la atención, elegí Pokémon Platino. El primer juego de Pokémon que jugué en mi vida, y un amor para toda la vida. Lastimosamente no lo pude disfrutar al máximo, el cartucho estaba malo y no me permitía salvar la partida. Además de que otra vez era un juego en inglés. Estando en casa de mi abuela por parte de papá, descubrí la existencia de algo llamado R4. Era un cartucho que te permitía introducir gran cantidad de juegos. Para mí fue una locura. Así que en vez de pedirle otro juego a mi mamá le pedí aquel cartucho fantástico. El cual para mi sorpresa vino con un CD incluido con un montón de juegos para elegir.
I find it very curious, my best friend from childhood I met thanks to Pokémon. With him to already have the R4 we spent it playing Call of Duty and GoldenEye, next to my brother. My friend and I most of the time we made team only to make bother my brother. Most of the game we would always kill him, then he would get upset and leave, and then we couldn't play anymore. We were also aware of any new games that came out that we liked, like Ace Attorney, Professor Layton and of course Pokémon.
A mí me parece muy curioso, a mi mejor amigo de la infancia le conocí gracias a Pokémon. Con él al ya tener la R4 nos la pasábamos jugando Call of Duty y GoldenEye, junto a mi hermano. Mi amigo y yo la mayor parte del tiempo hacíamos equipo solo para hacer molestar a mi hermano. La mayor parte de la partida siempre lo matabamos, luego él se molestaba y se iba, y entonces no podíamos seguir jugando. También estábamos al tanto de cualquier juego nuevo que saliera que nos llegase a gustar, como podrían ser Ace Attorney, Profesor Layton y por supuesto Pokémon.
Anyway, to finish, I could go on telling many more things but I am tired of seeing so many words. So the best thing for all of us is to leave this here. Video games have always been present in my life and have taught me valuable values, besides helping me to meet very good people in all areas. I could even say that they taught me a lot of what I know today. For that reason they are something that I appreciate very much, although lately I play only a little bit of to times, surely someday I will find some game that is a vice, and I remain playing and playing by hours. Until that day comes, I will continue to review the games I enjoy in my free time. Goodbye and see you next time.
En fin, para terminar, podría seguir contando muchas más cosas pero estoy cansado de ver tantas letras. Así que lo mejor para todos es que vaya dejando esto hasta acá. Los videojuegos siempre han estado presente en mi vida y me han enseñado valiosos valores, además de haberme ayudado a conocer gente muy buena en todos los ámbitos. Podría decir que hasta me enseñaron gran parte de lo que hoy en día sé. Por eso son algo que aprecio mucho, aunque últimamente juego solo un poco de a ratos, seguramente algún día me encuentre algún juego que sea un vicio, y me quede jugando y jugando por horas. Hasta que llegue ese día, seguiré haciendo reseñas de los juegos que disfruto en mi tiempo libre. Adiós y hasta la próxima.

La verdad es que yo con el GTA no me fijaba nada nadita en la historia, todo era robar autos y pasear por el inmenso mapa, de verdad que era algo muy divertido en sus tiempos, jajaja

Que buenos recuerdos @syberia, tuviste de varios modelos, que afortunado. En mi casa yo jugaba con mis hijos en el Atari, luego en el Sega, en el Play Station y en el Nintendo. Hermosos recueerdos.
La verdad es que sí, fui muy afortunado de tener muchas consolas con las cuales jugar. Me pude divertir gracias al esfuerzo de mi mamá para consentirme jajaja

The truth is, yes, perhaps without these memories I would not be the person I am today. I enjoyed too much remembering all this, I would have liked to put many more anecdotes but it gave me laziness haha

Yo también siempre me la pasaba jugando con mis primos cuando iba a casa de mi abuela, de verdad que era muy divertido, además de súper competitivo.

No soy muy buena con el Counter-Strike pero me gusta jugarlo de vez en cuando, en general me gustan los buenos shooters, especialmente los más viejitos pues a muchos recientes no les veo mucho atractivo a pesar de los gráficos

Graciasss, jajaja. Yo también soy fan de los shooters, estando más grande descubrí Doom (el clásico) y empecé a jugarlo, de verdad que era un juego entretenido. Y sobre la prohibición, es algo demasiado ilógico, menos mal nadie le hizo caso a eso, o sea, quién puede pensar que los videojuegos te hacen violento adjakska.

He jugado un poquito a Doom y a otros juegos de ese estilo, Ion Fury es realmente bueno, pero siempre termino muerta así que tengo que esforzarme mucho si quiero terminar alguno, más que todo los juegos para pasar el rato o cuando quiero un subidón de adrenalina haha
Por fortuna para mi, mis padres nunca se tomaron eso en serio, así que yo podía seguir jugando las cosas que tenía a mi disposición tranquila y sin mucho problema.
