Championship Manager 01/02 is a soccer manager simulation game, in which you will have to manage the team you choose. It belongs to the saga of the same name, and this edition is considered the best of all, so much so that a group of fans of this title continue to update the game today. It was originally released on October 12, 2001. It is currently available as Freeware, since 2008.

Pertenece a la saga del mismo nombre, y ésta edición en cuestión es considerada la mejor de todas, tanto es así que un conjunto de aficionados a este título siguen actualizando el juego al día de hoy. Fue lanzado originalmente el 12 de Octubre del 2001. Actualmente se encuentra disponible como Freeware, desde el 2008.

Championship Manager is mainly based on the sport aspect of soccer, being totally different from other simulation games of the same style, which were also based on the economic aspect. Technically, it is something that adds less difficulty and makes the game more affordable, we wouldn't have to worry about pricing tickets and other things. Championship Manager se basa más que nada en el aspecto deportivo del fútbol, diferenciándose totalmente de otros juegos de simulación del mismo estilo, que se basaban también en el aspecto económico. Técnicamente es algo que añadía menos dificultad y hacía más asequible el jugar, no tendríamos que estar pendientes de poner el precio de las entradas y otras cosas. Acá fácilmente se habla con la directiva y podemos expandir el estadio, mejorar la cantera, pedir más presupuesto para fichajes sin tantas complicaciones, aplicándose si el club se lo puede permitir.
The game has 26 playable leagues including subdivisions, something that at that time attracted a lot of attention because other simulators were based on only one league, thus being able to only manage teams from that league in question (as in PCFútbol which was only the Spanish league). El juego cuenta con 26 ligas jugables incluyendo subdivisiones, cosa que en aquella época llamaba mucho la atención debido a que otros simuladores solo se basaban en una sola liga, pudiendo así, solo dirigir equipos de esa liga en cuestión (como en PCFútbol que solo era la liga española). También se pueden seleccionar ligas secundarias para expandir así la base de datos. Al comenzar a jugar podremos seleccionar las ligas en las cuales queramos dirigir o participar, procurando no seleccionar demasiadas porque el juego tenderá a ir demasiado lento y será insufrible jugarlo. La base de datos puede llegar a tener más de 30.000 jugadores.
The gameplay is quite simple and yet complex, easy in the sense that you create your manager, choose the leagues you want to play in and the team to manage. Difficult in the sense that the game is text-based, the whole game and matches are played based on text. In this title there are no 3D simulations or anything like that, it has its proper interface and it is easy to guide you but don't expect something like that. When you are in a match the things you will read will be something like this: /x player passes the ball to x player/x player steals the ball from x player/goalkeeper stops the opponent's shot/x player shoots at the goal/ and similar. It's not really something that I consider to be repetitive or anything like that because the technique is to read the texts, see what your players are doing and then proceed to change the tactics in the matches.
La jugabilidad es bastante sencilla y a la vez compleja, fácil en el sentido de que creas tu manager, elijes las ligas en las que quieres jugar y el equipo a dirigir. Difícil en el sentido que el juego se basa en texto, todo el juego y los partidos se juegan en base a texto. En este título no hay ni simulaciones 3D o cualquier cosa parecida, tiene su debida interfaz y es sencillo guiarse pero no esperes algo como eso. Cuando estés en un partido las cosas que leerás serán algo tal que así: /x jugador pasa el balón a x jugador/x jugador le roba el balón a x jugador/el portero detiene el tiro del rival/x jugador chuta al arco/ y similares. Realmente no es algo que considero que se haga repetitivo ni mucho menos porque la técnica está en leer los textos, ver qué hacen tus jugadores y de allí proceder a cambiar las tácticas en los partidos.

Las tácticas son prácticamente una de las cosas más importantes del juego en cuestión, se puede elegir el tipo de pase, si quieres jugar a la ofensiva o a la defensiva, si quieres un marcaje con entradas débiles o fuertes y demás. Este es el apartado más personalizable y más relevante, dependiendo de cómo configures la táctica podrás ganar casi todos los partidos. Algunos de los trucos más conocidos es que lo mejor es jugar con un solo delantero o tres delanteros, es bastante difícil que una táctica con dos delanteros den buen rendimiento, otro truco es la de siempre poner un mediocampista defensivo en tu táctica, esa es una de las posiciones más rotas del juego. Otra cosa que daba muy buenos resultados era jugar con pases cortos, entradas duras además de jugar al fuera del juego. Esos son algunos de los trucos básicos, pero las tácticas dan para miles de configuraciones, yo me divertía la mayor parte era creándolas y era muy bueno haciéndolas.

Una cosa que es medio complicada es saber la valía de los jugadores, ya que están caracterizados principalmente por una ficha de habilidades que cuentan con aproximadamente 30 de ellas. Algunas de ellas más importantes que otras. Habiendo así un truco en este apartado, al saber cuáles son las habilidades más importantes para cada posición, podrás fichar a los jugadores ideales para tu equipo, además de encontrar buenos jugadores jóvenes si así lo deseas. Algunas de las habilidades que se pueden encontrar son: olfato, remate, remate de cabeza, pase, creatividad, regate y muchas más. Un ejemplo que les daré es que si yo quiero fichar a un buen delantero con muchos goles, las habilidades que tengo que tener en cuenta son las siguientes: remate, remate de cabeza, determinación (habilidad más fuerte y decisiva del rendimiento de un jugador) y posicionamiento. Un consejo que les puedo dar es siempre fichar jugadores con determinación alta, aplica para todas las posiciones.
This game so far is quite fun and I have really spent hours and hours on it. The truth is that I don't consider this videogame as something old-fashioned, it could be seen simply as an old version of what today is Football Manager, taking into account that its development was the same before, you will find many similarities. The community is very good, they always have a good vibe, they share tactics, the young promises they discover in the updates, and sometimes they organize leagues between friends or also propose challenges. I have a lot of appreciation for this title and it is something I would recommend to anyone who likes to play manager. Este juego al día de hoy es bastante divertido y de verdad que le he dedicado horas y horas. Gracias a la comunidad de champman0102.co.uk, que se encarga de actualizar el juego cada año he podido disfrutar mucho más. Tanto así era mi vicio con este juego que podía saberme toda la plantilla de un equipo o saber fácilmente en qué equipo jugaba qué jugador, cosa que con el tiempo he ido perdiendo. La verdad es que no considero este videojuego como algo anticuado, podría verse sencillamente como una versión viejita de lo que hoy en día es Football Manager, teniendo en cuenta que su desarrollo anteriormente eran la misma, encontrarán muchas similitudes. La comunidad es muy buena, siempre andan con buen rollo, allí comparten tácticas, los jóvenes promesas que descubren en las actualizaciones, además de que a veces organizan ligas entre amigos o también proponen retos. A este título le tengo bastante aprecio y es algo que le recomendaría a cualquiera que le guste esto de jugar a ser manager. En el foro podrán descargar el juego y las actualizaciones totalmente gratis, también si quieres puedes apoyarlos monetariamente para continúen con su trabajo de poder actualizar este grandioso juego.

No sé, para mí era muy divertido. Igual se podría decir que es un juego bastante de nicho, no a muchos le gustan los juegos de simulación de manager.
