Fan Remake for TMNT Fall of the Foot Clan In Development

in Hive Gaming3 days ago

In the early 90s the Nintendo Game Boy was the clear owner of the portable market. If you wanted to play on the go, it was Game Boy, or one of those crappy Tiger Electronics LCD games. Even though Konami did release an LCD game based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT), they were not about to let that easy money of a Game Boy release slip by. In 1990/1991 they release TMNT Fall of the Foot Clan on the Nintendo Game Boy. I wanted it till I saw it was like the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) version – 2D side scrolling rather than a brawler like the arcade game. Still, that is not stopping a fan from remaking the game in color with better graphics and sound.

Out of Left Field We Have a TMNT Game Coming

I was not aware of this game till I saw it pop up on my suggested videos on YouTube. It is looking good though, much better than the blurry mess on the original Game Boy but that is not hard to do.

This work in progress is an improvement in many ways over what Konami offered fans. Color, better sound, more detail, and 1000000% less blur just to start.

There is also parallax scrolling. Okay, okay, you got me, the original had parallax scrolling in the city area. That was something that many 8-Bit platforms offered at the time.

No Demo, Yet

The developer does mention in the description of their video, embedded above, that this is not a Super Nintendo or Game Boy rom hack. Nor does it run on those platforms, this is 100% a PC game through and through.

Sadly, no demo is available yet, we will have to wait for that to happen later when the game is finished.

Which TMNT game is your favorite? I have a hard time picking between the arcade game, which was TMNT II on the NES, and Turtles in Time on SNES. Then I remember how stupid hard Rocksteady is in the arcade game and I run to play Turtles in Time.
