PUBG Mobile Sees Massive Update, New Modes

in Hive Gaming4 years ago

Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBG Mobile) is celebrating its second anniversary with the “2Gether We Play” event. To mark this event Tencent games have launched update 0.17.0 which brings some interesting changes to the overall game. If you think you are the best, you will want to check out Hardcore Mode.

For those that live in a cave

PUBG Mobile, available for Android and iPhone platforms, is a battle royal game featuring realistic environments. Based on the computer version, mobile gamers have been parachuting into their favorite maps in single, duo, or squad modes. New modes and weapons have been added as the game ventured through development.

Gameplay updates

The biggest change to PUBG Mobile is the addition of Hardcore Mode. This mode eliminates the alerts that mobile fans have probably grown quite accustomed to. Yep, that means gone are visual cues on the map for footsteps and gun shots or anything that makes noise.

You are left to your wits, visual capabilities, and instincts. Just like the PC version.

Another in game tweak you can look forward to includes a “Brothers In Arms System”. This tweak makes learning the game easier for newbs. New to PUBG Mobile? Register as a “Rookie” and you will be paired up with a “Veteran” in Classic Mode (Battle Royal at its most chaotic). There are benefits for Veterans to help Rookies.

More subtle tweaks

Universal Marks is interesting because it allows you, and your teammates, to mark supplies, vehicles, and death crates (supply box for fallen gamers). This is an awesome addition that can greatly benefit teams that work together.

Colorblind Mode gives players greater control over colors used for in-game indicators. You can access this through the Graphics Settings menu.

Teammate Volume Control is one tweak I have been wanting for a long time. Some players don’t understand just how loud they are on the mic. This tweak lets everyone else on the team adjust the yeller in the group.

Weapons tweaks

There are firearm balancing and “other improvements” mention in the press release but no further details. This is probably stuff like adjusting damage, fire rate, etc for various weapons. Some are way overpowered while others are the opposite.

Finally, we have the big daddy of guns. PC players have had this one for a while and now PUBG Mobile players get a taste of it. The DBS is a double-barrel shotgun that is only available in Air Drops. That means don’t bother looking for the DBS to be laying around. This bad boy fires two 12 gauge rounds, holds a total of 14, and can accept up to a 6x scope. Lordy this is going to mess ups someone’s day.

When you see that supply plane coming you now have a big reason to reach it first. Ignoring that supply drop means there is an overpowered enemy out there. Somewhere.

Season 12 “2Gether We Play”

Launching on March 9th, 2020, Royale Pass Season 12 will bring the usual fresh gear skins, new challenges, and new rewards. On March 12th “Amusement Park Mode” will be available on the Erangel map. Players will be able to check out interactive games and attractions here.
