my November Garden Journal ((microgreens and herbs))

in HiveGarden2 months ago

People of the garden! I wish you a happy Monday. I write to you while gazing out the kitchen window that looks at my small, disorganized garden. And I want to share a few images of what I did with the harvests of the past couple of weeks.

I always have a tray or two of microgreens growing. This is the first year that I have tried growing beet microgreens and decided to grow them in the spiral garden, with random calendula flowers sprouted throughout.

The goal here is to grow beet greens for a couple of months, thin them as I harvest the leaves, then let a few beets form roots (and seeds) as well as the calendula plants take over.

Besides harvesting greens for salads and soups, I have been harvesting herbs of all kinds for weekly batches of pesto. The basil plants aren't quite large enough to harvest so I made a delicious pesto with parsley, mint, and lemon balm.

It was so good and really made the difference when I didn't have much time to come up with an interesting lunch on workdays. Spring is the season of fresh herbs and crisp leaves. I am enjoying these super green meals and may even freeze a few jars of pesto for later on in the year.

I like an international community because I can grow vicariously through people while I stare at the snow covered ground. 😆

Our outdoor growing season has ended... Now all the plants have been moved indoors.

Good luck with your indoor garden 🌿🍀

Gosh, your garden is doing really fine, giving you all what you need in exchange for you taking care of it. The amazing thing about this garden is that you can harvest them and be happy with it's produce. So cool!

Thanks so much! This is my last year with this garden so I am trying to enjoy it to the fullest ☀️🦋🌱

Wow you have a lot of veggies and can make a pesto. Can I have some pesto and avocado? 🤤
