Green chilli cultivation in our garden which is bearing fruit with fertility.

in HiveGardenlast year

Hi my loving Hivers,

I haven't been able to post any content on the Hive platform for quite some time due to busy schedule. After almost two weeks, I took the time this morning to observe the chilli plants in our garden before leaving for work. In the past, some chilli plants were small, while others were stunted by insects. But due to the systematic care of my parents and wife, the regrowth was clearly visible. Lack of rain was not much of a problem because water was added in the morning and evening.

The type of chili we call the above Kochchi is very spicy. Adding these to fish and chicken curries can add more flavor. Therefore, this chili variety can be seen in many gardens in Sri Lanka. Chilli has become a crop that is as valuable as a staple food for Sri Lankans. Although the added nutritional value is small, our staple food, rice, cannot be without chillies. The flavor of many nutritious foods is enhanced by the addition of chilies.

Although Sri Lankans use green chillies to flavor their food daily, many people do not understand the nutritional value of green chillies. I remember how my Ayurvedic uncle, who passed away a year ago, mentioned that green chilies contain a wealth of properties that we do not know.

As there is a very good market for green chillies due to high demand, the chilli crop has become a main crop of the dry region farmer. Furthermore, the fact that chillies can be grown from sea level to high altitudes is a good answer to the potential for the chilli crop. Thus, chillies can be grown easily in most agro-geographic zones of Sri Lanka. Chilli cultivation is also done in many parts of the world. For that, it is important to have a warm climate with good sunlight.

The reason for the happiness is that the plants which are stunted due to the effect of insects are growing well and flowering. Chili pods are to be harvested in a short time. We do not buy green chilies from the market for our domestic consumption. Green chillies grown in Sri Lanka as well as Nai chillies and Kochi are in high demand in other foreign countries. The attractive color and spiciness of the chilli pods has been mainly responsible for this.

By now, many people have turned to cultivation. But it is very difficult for people living in the city to find plants or seeds. You can often see posts asking for seeds and plants like this on social media. So you can sell plants or nurseries that are in excess in your area or separate the seeds properly and sell them. If it's like plants, there are ways to courier it.

Research has found that although the amount of vitamin C contained in chili pods increases gradually from young to mature, it gradually decreases from ripening to drying. It has also been found that about one-third (1/3) of vitamin C is destroyed during cooking of raw pods.

Using the available space in our garden, we can see how green chilli plants are planted in one place and they are growing profusely. The advantage of chillies is that they can produce more in a small space. It is said that chillies contain minerals such as vitamin C, calcium and iron, which are not considered nutritious foods.

Today, many people complain that they do not have a suitable space for cultivation. If they want clarity, there are many alternative solutions. Chili can be grown successfully in urban homes and gardens and in pots or containers. Chili can grow successfully in loamy soil as well as in sandy soil by adding organic fertilizers. Chili does not grow well in poorly drained areas and is easily susceptible to disease.

WOW! You have plenty of chilies in your garden. I also plant chilies, but there are not many chilies that can be harvested and the plants died very fast. I'm trying now planting new chilies, they are still young. I do hope they can produce a lot of chilies as the ones in your garden. (I planted them in pots, too.) Thanks so much for sharing. These can inspire me very much.

Unfortunately hear to died your old chilies plants. Some of conditions needed for chili cultivation like as weather, soil etc.. However I hope your new plants will grow much better and to be harvest.

Many thanks for your wish! I do really hope that the new plants will grow much better, too.
