in March with the hot weather burning my skin, I planted some coconut seeds. so in April it's time to plant ginger. I have 50 polybags containing ginger plants that are 4 months old.

IMG20220403092144.jpg

I saw that the polybag was unable to accommodate the ginger plant, it's time to move the ginger root to an empty land in the garden, here's how I move and have good ginger seeds for me to plant in the garden.

Friday, April 1
In the morning I came to the garden which is next to my house, at the end of the garden, there is a piece of vacant land measuring 4 x 9 meters, at first this vacant land was a carp pond, but I had to close it because the fence fell in the wind and the a new handyman finished repairing the collapsed fence

Seeing empty land, I immediately took my gardening tools, a small hoe to make a hole to plant ginger

IMG20220403091848.jpg

I then took some ginger from the polybag and I will transfer it to the garden, but we have to choose good seeds

I just unpacked 14 polybags which I saw had solid ginger and had to be moved to another place.I got a small bucket of ginger seeds and I will sort it to be transferred to the planting hole that I have made.

IMG20220403104434.jpg

if I get ginger seeds like this, I will cut them into several seeds, I cut them right between the segments that separate each rhizome as follows.

IMG20220403112819.jpg

If I get a brown ginger stem, I don't plant it but I will harvest the ginger rhizome. The part of the ginger rhizome that contains a lot of roots like this, we should cut the root before planting, because this root will inhibit the growth of the ginger rhizome.

It's time to plant the seeds I've chosen

IMG20220403114054.jpg

I also sort if there are brown plant stems that I plant, I immediately cut them.

IMG20220403101609.jpg

after I planted, I got 55 new ginger plants,it's time to give the ginger a drink so you won't be thirsty, I never give fertilizer to my plants, I only give leri water, namely water used for washing rice.

IMG20220403114943.jpg

because it's noon, I'm going home, today I'm harvesting ginger which is not good for seeds.in December 2021 I bought 0.5 kilograms of ginger rhizome which I will make seeds and within 6 months (2 months of seedling and 4 months after planting) I can harvest ginger all year round, because I don't sell the harvest, I harvest it almost every day for cooking spices and hot drinks from ginger.

Saturday, April 2
today I went back to the garden to see what I can do in the garden. I think I will plant coconut seeds because there is vacant land, my family and I really like young coconut ice, it's delicious.

this is the vacant land where I planted 2 hybrid coconut seeds.

I will check some bananas in the garden.

IMG20220403115339.jpg

there are bananas that are just starting to bear fruit and some are starting to grow fruit.I also found bananas that can be harvested.

IMG20220403115328.jpg

IMG20220403172520.jpg

I took a comb at the top, in one comb there were 20 bananas, my son, Rais could barely hold it🤣🤣

Sunday, April 3
today is a holiday, this morning we were in the garden, we continue our gardening activities, Rais is very excited because he prefers to eat fruit than rice, even though rice is our staple food. my cousin gave me a matoa (Pometia pinnata) tree seed, this tree usually grows in the forest, the fruit is like rambutan fruit but tastes like durian, Rais is very happy to eat this fruit, so Rais is very excited to plant matoa tree seeds.Rais immediately made a hole to plant the matoa tree seeds.

IMG20220401180923.jpg

because we are carrying out Ramadan fasting, we will continue gardening activities in the afternoon, we leave the hole so that the steam contained in the soil is lost, this steam is hot and not good for newly planted plant seeds.

IMG20220401180934.jpg

in the afternoon we went back to the garden to plant the matoa tree seeds.

Don't forget to water the newly planted matoa seeds.

Thus our gardening activities in early April, until we meet again. Thank you for taking the time to read my writing.

I invite @maskuncoro and @dede85 to join the fun HiveGarden challenge, effort will not betray the results, what we sow is what we will harvest, green greetings for a beautiful earth.

Best Regards

So many ginger plants!

I don't blame your son, I like fruits as well. However, I don't mind rice either, it's versatile enough to go with everything, even fruits. 😁

yes you are right @minismallholding fruits are the best food which is rich in fiber and vitamins

Oh, you just gave me an idea to transfer my ginger which I planted on a rice sack. Good evening.

I also planted it in a sack of rice, I think you don't need to move it, just add soil every month, the results are better than if planted in the garden @afterglow

I think so too, thank you for the suggestion of adding soil every month.

Başarılar dilerim.

I thought ginger took more time to be harvested! I read some time ago that it has to be harvested after 10 months or so. It really looks so easy!! Maybe i'll try next time but I think my soil is harder and that is what makes it more difficult to grow! Good luck with all your crops!!

I've often planted ginger in polybags and fruit baskets, usually it only takes me 6 months to harvest, even though I don't fertilize it, the most important thing is how to plant it @fanyokami

I'll keep trying then!! thanks for the advice!

I didn't know you had to break apart the ginger rhizomes for ideal growth. I used to grow ginger for fun in containers, moving it inside and outside as the weather changed. I miss those tall stems with the dark green foliage...
Best of luck in your beautiful garden!

thank you friend @proto26,that's how I multiply the ginger, I will cut some of the stems when they are high so that the ginger rhizome grows maximally

I often use ginger with honey. This is such an important herb for all. I was knowing you quite late. Have followed to learn and read more experiences from you. ^_^ Selamat malam.

Cutting extra roots from the Ginger rhizome is something I must try this year. Thanks for sharing that tip.

you are welcome @ligayagardener
