Are we what we eat?

The Chinese some really funny believing or teaching that spread across South East Asia. We tend to use our food to justify how a person should be, and most of the time it's accurate. So, let's get started on it.

The old saying oges, 以形补形, bring the meaning of "you are what you eat" in English. But funnily, both languages brings a whole new meaning for each other. In Chinese, if the Chinese Sensei consultation give you a health assessment telling you have a weak lung, you're probably going to get 7 days a week for 7 week of ping lung soup boiled with some medical herb, and you get an iron lung.

Now the best part is in English. If you're using the same idea of what the Chinese use, using whichever part of the body of an animal to "replace" our human body by eating them in, we're gonna have trouble. Because we technically eat damn a lot of pigs. And some of those people whom doesn't go with the rules, just like a monkey. We probably know they eat monkey brain. Funny isn't it? Anyway, back to my Subway breakfast, home minister decided to fry us some bacon, some salad we planted at the flower pot outside. Since Subway is Halal, now we finally get to include a slice of real pork bacon in between yo!

image.png

Went for grocery shopping and buy dinner. Accidentally skipped lunch due to heavy and late breakfast. After that, it was heavy rain, so we didn't eat anything serious. A few slices of bread, milk and that's about it.

image.png

Rain subsided in the evening, but I guess not many people wanted to come out. Me and home minister finally get to do some serious grocery shopping, rather than leaving me alone going to the junkfood section and buy rubbish.

image.png

Tried to capture the rainbow after the rain, but it seems the exposure doesn't allow me to catch a more lively and vivid rainbow. Blame that on the tinted glass at the mall.

Later we went to the roadside hawker to buy us some Satey. Feels really good smelling the charcoal, and also the heat from the BBQ stove.

image.png

Am a little disappointed Sushi King haven't get their beef back. I was going to get some other stuff ot eat, but decided what the heck, and got myself a bowl of chicken rice.

image.png

Kid is having their Piri Piri Karaage, spicy chicken rice as the menu mentioned. Hardly really spitting fire kind of spicy, but more like herb spice?

image.png

Here's me and the kids. All 3 bowl of rice.

image.png

Home minister got herself a bowl of curry Laksa. She pluck some of the mint leafs from our plant and put them into the spicy curry soup.

And last but not least, the BBQ Satey. I order 10 sticks of chicken, so the kids can enjoy it as well. Another 5 sticks of beef and we all enjoying that. Once again, if we are what we eat, imagine cow is vegetarian. How do cow have so much of meat?

Sort:

以形补形!应该是说吃的那个部位就补那个部位吧!女主人放的那个是薄荷叶吗?

I don't particularly like crispy crust bread. But it was ok and I don't deny crispy bread. I like steam bread better 😊

haha . My friend, you should try Vietnamese bread once hehe

Wow that looks like quite an assortment of flavor, and mouth watering. The curry Laksa looks really tasty too. I don't think I've ever had it.
Great post, thanks for sharing.

Thanks buddy. I think I made enough enemy now by posting so many food photograph online 😂

You are very funny ha ha ha, the cow has a lot of meat because it eats and goes to sleep ha ha ha, that is the reason, but if I knew that I was doing something wrong at bedtime I would not do it now It is food for others ha haha.
In relation to who we are what we eat, I think we can eat whatever we want, but there must be a balance, eating and exercising.

Thanks buddy. Our body digestive system and absorption does not work the way as the old saying goes. We can eat all the organs that seemingly high cholesterol, but those stuff does not BUILD cholesterol in our body. In the end, they're just protein. Little do we care on HOW we prepare them and how our body react to them. My first goal now, is to cut down sugar. I've cut cigarettes over the past 1 year, I think I can do with sugar as well.

Even if the day isn't eventful, your culinary adventures are always of great interest. You have so much variety in Malaysia, even during the pandemic with all these restrictions.

Thanks buddy. It's a country blessed with multicultural and over the years, these ethics tend to blend their recipe and came up with some really good stuff. We, as a consumer sometimes are having difficulties to decide what to eat 🤣
