DJI Mini 2 Flight Test

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY3 years ago

I mentioned in my last blog that we bought a new drone. Our old DJI Spark and DJI Mavic Air had both crashed in seawater this year. The first was a heartbreaking crash after a client shoot, and the second was a getaway trip with the family. We had moved on from those two incidents and now, we are on our third drone. I hope we won't be crashing this anytime soon.

Our new drone is the DJI Mini 2. My husband opted for this because we have decided not to do any professional job in photography or filmmaking anymore and this will only be for our leisure, when we travel, and for documentation purposes. He loves to fly, the only thing is that he doesn't have a lot of time to edit the videos. Haha! Although, DJI had marketed this as something that can produce professional-quality images and videos.

We originally planned on going to the mountains to fly it but because my baby overslept his afternoon nap, the husband settled with flying it while at home. The view didn't disappoint though.

In the image is a view of Oslob's Lagnason bridge and the ponod area, there's a river that had somehow dried up already in that part. oslob's town Catholic church can't be seen from here.

Here's a view of the highway and the beach shoreline where we usually go swimming together with the cousins and in-laws. This beach has been bought by Gaisano already and they are planning to build a resort here. You can also see a resort with a pool in that area.

The long straight road going to Boljoon, the next town from Oslob. I was surprised to see a lot of green in this image.

Then we moved the camera to show us what's the view behind the house. There's a road going up to the mountains. This road was just finished this year and I mentioned that in my previous blog too.

Featuring the mountains of Oslob, Cebu.

It was almost sunset when the husband flew the drone. In Oslob, a lot of people are preferring to live in the mountain area. There's a problem though because there's no water supply up there. But still, there are locals living in that part of the town.

Since this is just a test flight, the husband didn't take any videos, I just asked him to take some photos for me to blog about.

His first impressions though are:

  1. It is not very noisy compared to the previous two drones he had used before.
  2. Controls are now better and easier to hold.
  3. The connection is stable!
  4. Since the battery life is longer, he could take time to fly the device and capture more footage.

This is our house, there's a car in that part, that's ours and you can't see us because we were under the roof.

By the way, this drone was purchased with two additional batteries. The pack is called fly more.

Here's my brother-in-law on his way to the house, he's driving a Toyota hilux.

Also, it was quite interesting to see a bird's eye view of this spot. This is an empty space just very near to our house. This is also where we pass by to get to the house.

That's it for today. Enjoy your day guys!

Beautiful shots, I imagine doing this for fun instead of work plus flying a cheaper drone makes things a little more fun and less stressful.
