Well, the things that are sensitive issues here are things known by folks like you in Southeast Asia for far too long. I think because I have never had close friends here and haven't spent much time here in the last 15 years, I tend to assume the USA is the way it was when I left, both politically and socially.
Despite us making less than a 1/10th of what I thought we'd earn here, we spend all of our time in the garage where we live with the kitties, saving as much as possible, and sending every dollar back to Cambodia where it can actually do something one day.
More and more I think I need to open a kitty rescue sanctuary when we get back because cats are now the main thing keeping me sane here.
