Hello everyone,

Japanese dumplings or gyoza in Japanese are made from minced pork, green onions, cabbage, and seasoning. Gyoza is a traditional Japanese food popular with locals, especially in Japanese ramen shops. Most Japanese ramen shops usually serve gyoza with the ramen. Gyoza is a light appetizer and easy to eat for all ages.

I visited Tokyo at the beginning of May and went sightseeing at famous spots such as the Tokyo Sky Tree, Sensoji Temple, and the shopping areas in Shibuya and Shinjuku. It was a Japanese holiday so most places were very crowded and it was difficult to try the popular restaurants because I had to stand in line for a long time.

My friend and I were in Sensoji Temple, also known as Asakusa Temple. We walked into the districts near the temple, and there were a lot of restaurants, cafes, and shopping centers. We walked around for about 15-20 minutes and finally stopped at Taiga Gyoza restaurant, which serves Chinese-Japanese noodles and gyoza. It has two floors, and we got a seat at the counter near the kitchen. We could see the staff cooking up close and get food directly from them.

The main dishes were gyoza and noodles. Most gyoza restaurants have only one type of gyoza, but this restaurant is a little special and has five types. We tried two of them.

The first dish we tried, standard fried gyoza, is just fried in a pan to make one side crispy. You can eat it plain or dip it in soy sauce.

The second dish we tried was boiled gyoza with Ma-la spicy seasoning, which is a seasoning made from Sichuan peppercorns and chili. I like this dish because the taste is similar to Thai food. I love spicy food.

The third dish we tried was the red hot chili Ma-la dan dan soup. This one wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be. It had a nice sesame smell, and the noodles were soft and sticky. It was yummy with the hot spicy soup.

The banana gyoza, which we didn't try, looks like a banana and is about 15 centimeters long. Wow! They're big, so please be careful if you order them.

Tiger Gyoza has branches all over Japan. Give it a try if you're there!
