BEAR TROUBLE

in CATSNAPS3 years ago

Last week Big Bear had an operation to remove some teeth that was making it hard for him to eat.

The prior week or two he was eating less and less. Some days better than others. Then he was missing whole meals so to the vet he went.

It was not easy getting him in a carrier. I tried putting him in a top open one but he would not cooperate. Luckily I had a real big one and got him in. Unfortunately he pulled out a bunch of nails thrashing around, until I put a towel over the carrier that calmed him down.
Bear is a very timid cat, not easy to man handle.
His blood work was good but doctor removed one bad tooth and 3 others. He also had some small front teeth missing.
I would thing he would be the last cat in the house with teeth problems.. being only 8 years old and a healthy looking specimen of a cat.. Go figure...

He recovered quickly but is keeping to himself more than before. At least he is eating better.

Oh dear. I hope he can put this behind him

He is doing very well. It is strange that he eats very slow & very rarely finishes his food. He later asks for more food but never eats more than the other cats. I am amazed how he maintains his big body.

Awe! Poor Bear, but I'm glad he is doing better! They put up such a fight sometimes but covering the carrier helps tremendously. You got some terrific photos of him and he is looking nice and relaxed. 💖

He is an odd cat, but then again they are all odd balls. Yes today he is on the porch with the other cats. They are sent from God to test my patience I think.

Def a test...

Insanity is not far away for us...

They have become part of me. Like a part of my body. All working together. One going down, the body is in pain, all is distressed.

I understand totally. Part of our daily routine. When they change it. I walk in circles mumbling...

Hive Power Up Month - Feedback from Day 12

I’m glad Bear is eating now even with less teeth. I don’t think he would wear a false pair of choppers.:)

Today he is not eating well again.

Maybe your vet has some ideas on food for Bear to be able to eat now. Let me know if you hear of any special food.

My cat Red has lost a few teeth and has difficulty eating at times. He eats wet food and I also leave out kitten dry food as it is smaller pieces. He finds it easier to eat the wet food off a plate rather than his bowl. I was going to check for softer dry food.

I think there is still something going on in his mouth unfortunately. You named your cat after yourself?

Haha Mike. I had to name something after myself. Red was a little orange kitten and called LiL'Red at first but now he is 13 years old, much bigger and I shortened the name to Red.

I hope Bear is eating better today.

He ate better but is a struggle. tried to take some video of his eating for vet to see. we will see.
