Speed On A Sunday

This weekend was the last for the Breonna Taylor exhibit at the Speed Art Museum and it was such a lovely Sunday so we had to mosey down and take a look.

This isn't the Speed but it is the parking garage for it. I just like the lines of it

This post isn't about the exhibits we saw though (that's coming soon!) but rather some of the other things we encountered while there. Even without the exhibits the Speed is a fun place to play around with a camera.

I think it's a sculpture of the Death Star

What's everyone else into on this lovely Sunday? I've been listening to the Travelin' McCourys while I've been editing and working on this, makes for some good Sunday music. I came across their cover (below) of Pumped Up Kicks and I had to include it, @dandays do you think we can get a remix of this version?

The Speed is located on the University of Louisville's campus but somehow I never managed to play around there while I was living on campus. I've since developed more of an appreciation for the place.

You can see campus and part of 3rd Street in the photo above. There's so many fun spots to shoot around the museum, it's almost like they planned it that way...

I was shooting with a 50mm prime lens but I really want to go back and see what I can get with a wide angle lens.

I must admit it was a bit strange seeing so many people out and about again but I'm pretty sure an art museum is just about the best place to ease back into people-ing again. It was nice to have new people to point my camera at but I'm still undecided on the whole people-ing ordeal.

I was just having a bit of fun editing these, seemed a proper way to see out the weekend. Hope y'all enjoy them!

What the hell is a mosey?

All of lines in all the shots, I dig the way you see things sir. Excellent tour.

Kentucky's just right up the street, were they serious about masks there? I think we toured 16 or 17 states since returning but that viral whatever thing they called it went right around Tennessee and Florida I guess.

I know better than to put up some dub step against.... the.. whatever that was.

Mosey is what you do when you have to slip past some sentries. Convince everybody you're not in a hurry for nothing and slip right on past them into the "Hey, you can't be here!" areas.

Yesterday was the last day for Kentucky's official mask mandate, most places around here hadn't been very particular about it since the CDC changed the guidelines but they asked us to put one on going into the museum.

I kinda want to hear the dub step version of whatever that was. The guy playing mandolin, his dad was Del McCoury (the band used to be the Del McCoury Band), he was something of a bluegrass legend, played with everybody from Jerry Garcia to Steve Earle.

Thank you sir!

Nice dude! I never got to see Garcia. I saw the Dead play twice, once without the extra vocals and the second time it was The Dead with John Mayor.

Museum. That explains it.

Yeah, I was still in school when Jerry died. One of my friends followed the Dead around for years, used to fly sheets of blotter back from Cali so he could spend most of his time following them around. He's got a massive collection of bootlegs that I sometimes steal and copy.

Oh, I enjoyed them. The lines, the reflections, the shadows.

Huzzah! Thank you 🙂 I'm never quite sure if other people will see the same things in my photos that I do, glad you enjoyed them.
