For me, nature should be seen in full color, but on this occasion and as an entry to today's #monomad challenge, I wanted to turn to black and white a series of images of a hike I did on a mountain that is on the Caracas - La Guaira highway in Venezuela. That day there was some cloud cover and the light fell quite white on the landscape, so I thought it was interesting to see these photos in monochromatic mode.
Para mí la naturaleza debe verse a todo color, pero en esta ocasión y como entrada al reto #monomad de hoy, quise pasar al blanco y negro una serie de imágenes de una excursión que hice por una montaña que queda por la autopista Caracas - La Guaira, en Venezuela. Ese día había cierta nubosidad y la luz caía bastante blanca sobre el paisaje, por lo que me pareció interesante ver estas fotos en modo monocromático.
The route begins in a housing development located in the mountains called Ciudad Caribia. There is a Camino de los Indios (Indian Trail), a path that ancestrally the indigenous people who inhabited the area used to protect themselves from the Spanish settlers. Much later other people also settled there and at the beginning of the hike we find the ruins of an old house.
La ruta comienza en una urbanización ubicada en la montaña que se llama Ciudad Caribia. Por allí hay un Camino de los Indios, sendero que ancestralmente los indígenas que habitaban la zona usaban para protegerse de los colonos españoles. Mucho después también se asentaron otras personas allí y al principio de la caminata nos encontramos con las ruinas de una vieja casa.
The flat trail ended quickly and a steep climb confirmed what the guide had said: this hike, apart from being long, has many parts with some difficulty.
El sendero plano terminó rápido y una abrupta subida nos confirmó lo que había dicho el guía: esta excursión aparte de larga tiene muchas partes con cierta dificultad.
As seen on many mountain tops, here we also came across a cross when we reached a certain point known as Topo La Peonía, the curious thing is that it was covered with mirrors, which gave you the opportunity to take some creative shots playing with the sky.
Como se ve en muchas cimas de montañas, aquí también nos conseguimos con una cruz cuando llegamos a cierto punto conocido como Topo La Peonía, lo curioso es que estaba cubierta con espejos, lo que te daba oportunidad para hacer algunas tomas creativas jugando con el cielo.
Although there wasn't much sun, it was hot and there were no trees for shelter, well yes hahaha, look at that lonely palm tree among the mountains, it stood out in the landscape but didn't give shade.
Aunque no salió mucho el sol, hacía calor y no había árboles para resguardarse, bueno sí jajaja, miren esa palmera solitaria entre las montañas, destacaba en el paisaje pero no daba sombra.
Nearby we came across an interesting structure, it was an oven, it looked quite old but it seemed to be still in use. In this area there are many hamlets, people who make a living from growing different crops.
Por allí cerca nos topamos con una estructura interesante, se trataba de un horno, se veía bastante antiguo pero parecía estar aún en uso. Por esta zona hay muchos caseríos, personas que viven de la siembra de diferentes cultivos.
After all we made a stop to rest under the sparse shade of the palm tree 😂.
Después de todo hicimos una parada para descansar debajo de la escasa sombra de la palmera 😂.
The last part of the route has several climbs that although they are not very steep, they are long, so the legs get quite tense, but the beautiful mountain scenery distracts you a little from the effort to be made.
La última parte de la ruta tiene varias subidas que aunque no son muy empinadas si son largas, entonces las piernas se te tensan bastante, pero el hermoso paisaje montañoso te distrae un poco del esfuerzo que hay que hacer.
In total it was about 18-20 km until we reached our goal, the town of El Junquito, and there we took a bus to return to Caracas.
En total fueron más o menos unos 18-20 Km hasta llegar a nuestra meta, el pueblo de El Junquito, y allí tomamos un autobús para regresar a Caracas.
