You could do an entire study on those two words. In fact, I think that would be a pretty sweet theme for a Church to tackle!
If you look up in your Bible how many times the words "but God" appear, it's amazing! Those two words represent the infinite power and wisdom of the Almighty God. That nothing is impossible with Him. That He can transform any situation or circumstance.

You see, every time we find ourselves in a rut, dark place, tough circumstance, depression or anxious situation, financial difficulties, health scares...anything...and you add "but God" after it.....
...the devil runs. He thinks he's in control, until you use those two words...but God!
"I am so lonely...but GOD is always with me!"
"There isn't enough money this month...but GOD will always provide!"
"Depression seems to have me down...but GOD is bigger than any illness!"
See, right before the "but God" part, that's where the devil camps out. You better believe he runs for cover when you add the next two words. That's where he loses all his hold on you...
but God never loses His hold!
And when they had carried out all that was written of Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb, but God raise Him from the dead - Acts 13:29-30
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth - 1 Corinthians 3:6
For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die, but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:7-8
And the patriarchs, jealous of Joseph, sold him into Egypt; but God was with him and rescued him out of all his afflictions and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who made him ruler over Egypt and over all his household. - Acts 7:9-10

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. - Psalm 73:26
...it goes on and on and on and on. Try it sometime; open your Bible app and type in the words "but God" and watch how many times God shows up for us.
The number is endless. Over and over, people faced adversities but God saw them through. He kept His promise. He never failed them.
It's the most consistent thing in our lives - our faith in the one true God! I am so happy that I am no longer the way I once was; for I once was lost but God has found me!
