How's that for a little shock and awe headline?

So yeah, I haven't been blogging on this account much. Actually it's been months since my last post. My walk has been...Lacking the fire it once had. I'm not exactly sure what causes it, it seems to go in spurts for me. One second I'm on fire for Jesus, and the next second I couldn't be bothered picking up my bible...

I actually went to church yesterday with my wife and it was a nice experience. We're brand new to this community and decided to check out the local church, and maybe it would fire me up again...I dunno.

Which brings me to something I've been struggling with that I wanted to write...

If you read that paragraph above, you'll notice I said 'I went to church yesterday'...Today is Sunday so yesterday was Saturday....And I'm Christian, so why on earth would you be going to church on a Saturday?

Isn't the Lord's Day Sunday?

Welp....

I'm a Seventh Day Adventist. And part of my faith is 'attempting' to live by the Word. Every single word. And we believe, the 10 commandments are the 10 commandments. God doesn't change and neither do his laws. And one of those laws is found in Exodus 20:8-11:

The Sabbath!

A pillar of the Adventist faith that...We seem to 'debate' other denominations on quite frequently.

Some in my faith are quite confrontational about it, so much so that there are entire videos found on YouTube about how 'crazy' Adventists are. And I get it, there are crazies in every faith lol

However something I struggle with is when I see a Christian talk about Sunday, discuss how the Sabbath doesn't matter any more, it was nailed to the cross, etc...I feel like, I need to debate....

It burns at me that many times I've written out War & Peace on social media...Only to have the Holy Spirit calm me down and erase it before I press publish lol

Pride goeth before destruction....

This is my struggle!

Always having to be 'right' when it comes to faith is why so many are driven away from religion in today's day and age. We all have our beliefs and dang it, YOU MUST BELIEVE WHAT WE DO OR ELSE!!!

What is wrong with me? lol

Seriously though, I've been thankful that God has laid it on my heart to let a lot of this 'desire to debate' slide...

I don't need to be right. This isn't about me. It's about God.

He doesn't need me yelling at people on social media. He doesn't need me debating about the 7th day. He doesn't need me for well, anything...But he WANTS me!

That's my Christian 'ah-ha' moment!

I hope I get my fire back. I pray I do. At times I've very confident in my faith, but that whole pride thing starts showing up in my mind almost daily...

It's time to let go, and let God!

Sort:

Jon! First, I am so happy to see you back here writing.

I am convinced that Satan sits back and laughs when we Christian's waste so much precious time debating over the little things; and I don't write that to say that the Sabbath is considered a "little thing". It shouldn't be. It's extremely important and so important to some that an entire denominations was formed out of it! It's just that when we fight over these topics, whether it be Sabbath, communion, which translation is the "right one", we're pulling away from the bigger picture and it's a distraction.

Thank you for being honest. The fact that you want to stand up and tell the truth means that you still have some fire in your heart for Christ. Just need to keep it going!

Love ya!
