Project Persistence

I think it is very important to be persistent with my own projects.

I have a few ones, you already know about some of them and well, you will probably never know about some other projects that are either too young, or too brave or too unorthodox, let's put it that way.

Today I am sharing my new works following the line of this project that I titled "Hard Light and Smoke".

The coloring scheme today is the Pantone color of the year 2023, "Viva Magenta".

The last visual from this series I just listed for sale as NFT on OpenSea, you can find the link to my portfolio there below the pictures.

All my works are AI free, they are just a result of my imagination and more then a decade of working and experimenting with my photo equipment :)

Here is the link to my NFT portfolio: https://opensea.io/LightCaptured

You are kindly invited and more than welcome to join "The Photographic Society" Community on HIVE here: @hive-142821, where photographers and enthusiasts share not only their works but also discuss concepts and techniques, and also some hot topics and news about our favorite art.

Thank you for your time and support, please check out below few other ways to aid and encourage me in my endeavors and stay in touch!

I'm gradually starting to like this color a lot by your photos. I once tried to photograph such a smoke and it was a lot of fun, but also, a big fight.
About the projects - I've learned not to share mine, but I'd be happy to hear from you, someday, if you're willing 😊 I wish you a lot of success with them 🙏

It's a wonderful lively color, isn't it? :)

I totally get you. Some things are too good to just share publicly when it it obvious only a handful will see and even less admire and appreciate!

smoke photography, fun and at times frustrating (why o why is it moving like that when i want it to move like this :) )

Precisely! :)
Trying to gain control over something that is so hard, even almost impossible to control! :D

I remember your experiments with smoke, but then there were no color samples... or you just didn't show them))
By the way, what kind of smoke source do you prefer to use?
Maybe these are sticks of Indian incense?
Then you get maximum pleasure from work))
Great shots!

Maybe these are sticks of Indian incense?

Exactly, that's my favorite smoke source, also brings nice aroma to the room. The biggest problem is for me to try to stand still as much as possible and also eliminate all the air drifts inside the room as they destroy the flow.

Also, I cannot withstand more than 2 sticks, it gets hard to breathe after burning them, lol.

!PIZZA

Yes, the air flow during such a shooting is definitely a problem, I didn't think about it)
What kind of light source do you use? Directional light from the side?
After all, the background should be black, and the smoke itself can give a shadow to itself.

In general, this is an interesting topic. Sometimes sunlight penetrates through the boards in the barn. If you put clouds of cigarette smoke into it, you get a thin slice with an interesting pattern. We'll have to try to film it))

!BEER

I always use studio flashes with hard directional light.
To use the exact photo-terms, softbox with honeycomb grid light modifier ;)
Contrejour position from above or sideway light works well, I move the light source during the shoot to add more randomness :)

!PIZZA

Thanks for the answer)
Yes, there definitely needs a hard directional light. I don't have such flashes... we'll have to go to the barn in sunny weather. It's dark there, but "hard directional light" comes through the cracks in the boards

!BEER

This custom-made cheap modifier also works great on smoke ;)

This is an excellent device for receiving directional hard light. Thanks for the hint, I will definitely repeat your trick :)
