Found me some Jelly Ears

in Wild Foraginglast year (edited)

Morning misty walk, listening to the birdsong, eyes wide loooking for these brown, jelly like fungi called jelly ears, also called wood ears. I hesitated to touch them at first as they freaked me out with their cold, soft, jellylike characteristics, brrrr it gave me shivers! haha! but once you know that it taste good, you cannot wait to put your hands on them.
Ok ok, i have found few, just enough to cook with my super yummmy vermicelli noodles, which everyone in our household is looking forward to taste. The amazing thing is that these dries really well and can be kept for a year, no more running to the chinese supermarket, but to the nearby woodland instead. And they are very beneficial to health.
Novice foragers, you can't go wrong with this, as long as you collect these from elder trees they can only be Jelly Ears.
Some Pezizas can look similar but these don’t tend to grow on elder and grow with the ‘cup shape’ facing up, the Jelly Ears face down.

Happy Foraging! 🌿🍄
