A photographic glimpse and a watercolor.
Hello everyone dear friends and welcome back to my blog. Today I share with you my latest watercolor painting and the photograph I took of a beautiful glimpse of the historic center of a city. The main theme is always that of the inspiration that a subject and our possible artistic interpretation can transmit to us.
I was inspired by a simple photograph that has many technical references: light, shadows, perspective, the inclination of the houses, cuts of light, details and more.
Our work as artists is greatly facilitated by the photographic image, for example we have all the perspectives of the houses towards the back, or the sharp shadows of the roofs or one side of the road.
What the photo does not suggest is the atmosphere or the sensations that we want to convey with our pictorial work.
In my case I wanted to make a very quick watercolor, starting from the sketch with a blue marker.
I wet the traces of the felt-tip pen with a brush and water, obtaining beautiful colored spots that gave the painting a more lively connotation. The part that I radically changed is in the sky.
With it I enjoyed playing with warm colors, orange and purple, and cold colors, cobalt and cerulean blue, and large splashes of color with broad brush strokes. A very intense and contrasting result, especially thanks to the orange that highlights its complementary, blue. A small hint of orange is also present on the wall of the house to the right of the composition.
To enhance the brightness of the city scene, I left a lot of white spaces between the houses.
The final pictorial result is very different from the photographic image and I hope you like it.

Uno scorcio fotografico ed un acquarello.
Ciao a tutti cari amici e ben tornati sul mio blog. Oggi condivido con voi il mio ultimo dipinto ad acquarello e la fotografia che ho scattato di un bello scorcio di centro storico di una città.
Il tema principale è sempre quello dell'ispirazione che ci può trasmettere un soggetto e la nostra possibile interpretazione artistica.
Ho preso spunto da una semplice fotografia che ha molti riferimenti tecnici: la luce, le ombre, la prospettiva, l'inclinazione delle case, tagli di luce, i particolari e altro ancora.
Il nostro lavoro di artisti è molto agevolato dall'immagine fotografica, ad esempio abbiamo tutte le fughe prospettiche delle case verso il fondo, oppure le ombre nette dei tetti o di un lato della strada.
Quello che la foto non ci suggerisce è l'atmosfera o le sensazioni che vogliamo trasmettere cn il nostro lavoro pittorico. Nel mio caso ho voluto realizzare un acquarello molto veloce, partendo dallo schizzo con un pennarello blu. Ho bagnato con un pennello e acqua le tracce del pennarello ottenendo delle belle macchie colorate che hanno dato al quadro una connotazione più vivace.
La parte che ho cambiato radicalmente è nel cielo. Con esso mi sono divertito a giocare con i colori caldi, arancione e viola, e quelli freddi, il blu cobalto e ceruleo, e grandi macchie di colori con pennellate larghe.
Un risultato molto intenso e contrastante, soprattutto per merito dell'arancione che mette in evidenza il suo complementare, il blu. Un piccolo richiamo di arancione è presente anche sulla parete della casa a destra della composizione.
Per rafforzare la luminosità della scena cittadina ho lasciato molti spazi bianche tra le case. Il risultato finale pittorico è molto differente dall'immagine fotografica e spero che vi piaccia.
