Church of the Purgatory

Hello everyone dear friends and welcome back to my blog. Today I share a watercolor with an architectural subject, an old 18th century church. The sacred building is called the church of Purgatory, it was built on the remains of another medieval church at the behest of the Brotherhood of Death.

This building had annexed a cemetery intended for the burial of people who could not afford the cost of a grave in the middle of the plague epidemic.

The Superintendence of Cultural Heritage has carried out an internal restoration with the use of a huge crane that I have documented in my photographs.

I took the opportunity to make some watercolors of the facade and this is an example.

Chiesa del Purgatorio

Ciao a tutti cari amici e ben tornati sul mio blog. Oggi condivido un acquarello con un soggetto architettonico, una antica chiesa del 18° secolo. L'edificio sacro è denominato chiesa del Purgatorio, fu costruita sui resti di un'altra chiesa medievale per volere della Confraternita della Morte.

Questo edificio aveva annesso un cimitero destinato alla sepoltura delle persone che non potevano permettersi il costo di una tomba in piena epidemia di peste. La Sovrintendenza dei Beni Culturali ha operato un restauro interno con l'uso di una enorme gru che ho documentato nelle mie fotografie.

Ne ho approfittato per realizzare alcuni acquarelli della facciata e questo è un esempio.

Spero che vi piaccia, vi mando un abbraccio come confratello della vita.
