The bike in the alley.
Hello everyone dear friends and welcome back to my blog.
Today I share with you my latest watercolor, the result of some walks in the beautiful alleys of the historic center of my city: Terracina, in lazio.
Here are some shots.
It happens very often to create glimpses of alleys and ancient buildings of historic centers, even in the shade.
A subject immersed in the shadow is much more difficult to achieve with the watercolor technique, you have few elements to highlight and you have to invent light.
We watercolor painters are often called creators of colored lights, and I must say that this definition is very close to the pictorial technique.
As you know the watercolor does not use the white color to paint the lights.
So today I had to invent additional light sources for my photography, very dark by the way.
I chose to illuminate the alley a lot from the light that enters the courtyard, and I used violet and cobalt blue tones mixed with burnt sienna.
In this way I was able to color the shadows without exceeding the darkness, and I left a slight outline without color, around the bicycle, illuminating it.
I hope you like the result.

La bici nel vicolo.
Ciao a tutti cari amici e ben tornati sul mio blog.
Oggi condivido con voi il mio ultimo acquarello frutto di alcune passeggiate all'interno dei bellissimi vicoli del centro storico della mia città: Terracina.
Ecco qualche scatto.
Mi capita molto spesso di realizzare scorci di vicoli e palazzi antichi dei centri storici, anche all'ombra.
Un soggetto immerso nell'ombra risulta molto più difficile da realizzare con la tecnica dell'acquarello, hai pochi elementi da evidenziare e devi inventare la luce.
Spesso noi acquarellisti siamo chiamati creatori di luci colorate, e devo dire che questa definizione è molto aderente alla tecnica pittorica.
Come sapete l'acquarello non fa uso del colore bianco per dipingere le luci.
Quindi oggi ho dovuto inventare delle fonti di luci supplementari alla mia fotografia, molto scura tra l'altro.
Ho scelto di illuminare molto il vicolo dalla luce che entra nel cortile, ed ho usato toni violetti e blu cobalto misti alla terra di siena bruciata.
In questo modo ho potuto colorare le ombre senza eccedere nel buio, ed ho lasciato un leggero contorno senza colore, intorno alla bicicletta illuminandola.
