Hello Hivers and friends around the world. When I was in elementary school, my teachers used to take us to certain place where most children in the area gathered elementary pulpil together to celebrate children's day. Before we got there, we have rehearsed the song we are going to sing. It was turn-by-turn until they reach our school. We sang what we have rehearsed and they gave gifts.

When I was 12 years old, my mother we take me and my sister to beach, game center and the biggest millennium pack where we would see other children playing. 'I enjoyed those days'.

All these years, I never thought of the reason why they celebrate children's day until I left elementary school, those thoughts came to my mind, I started reflecting on why we celebrate children's day.

I realized children day is to increase awareness of their rights, care and educational for children. No wander UNICEF adopted it. Children should be able to have access to free education from elementary school to grade 9; to protect children from child abuse and care about their welfare.

Children's day started some decades ago when a pastor from universalist church of redeemer name reverend Dr Charles held a special Sunday service for the children in chelsea, Massachusetts. The first name charles named that special Sunday was Rose day, then changed to flower day and later children's day.

The shocking revelation about this day is that, many country have left the values of children's day and run after the ceremony. There are countries whose there children can no longer go to school because of how government monetized public schools that should be free for all. According to UNESCO, about 264 children don't go to school. Children that go to school in rural communities lack access to quality education because there is no enough teacher in the school, the environment is not conducive- dilapidated building, no access to internet etc.

Some of those children that do not go to school are causing unrest in some part of the world now such as robbery, vandalism, kidnapping, terrorist and many more. I had testimonials of young men and women who joined all these immoral act just because they were deprived from the right to free education which would have shape their life and gave them better future. The best things a country can give her children is to provide access to free education.

Another important of children's day is to protect them from child abuse. In developing countries, there is rampant of child abuse- Rape, domestic abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse etc. Children are being molested, raped and abused; the rate of child abuse is keeping increased everyday.

The values of children's day should be revived so that our children can enjoy life without fear of being abused.
