The Hive blockchain is a large ecosystem of apps, sites, projects and communities, an ecosystem that is constantly evolving and expanding.
Today I want to share my experience on using an interesting Swap service that allows to convert HIVE tokens to SWAP.HIVE tokens and vice versa.
This service is HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge and I discovered it about a month ago by reading a post of @ph1102.

HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge has two special features that differentiate it from other SWAP services running on Hive:
- it has a commission swap (HIVE <-> SWAP.HIVE) of 0.1%
- offers the option of not paying the swap commission and earning 0.075% when there are certain conditions.
In the image below you can see the Home Page of HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge.
Today I used the service offered by HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge and converted 63 HIVE to 63.047 SWAP.HIVE.
Yes you read it right and I did not make a typo, the SWAP operation not only had no conversion cost but it earned me 0.047 SWAP.HIVE, the 0.075% of 63 HIVE.
This is because the developers of HIVEUPME introduced an incentive to solve the liquidity problems that are common problems of all the smaller and lesser-known SWAP services than the more popular and widely used Hive Engine and TribalDex that have large liquidities but also have fees of SWAP (HIVE<->SWAP.HIVE) that are higher: 0.75%.
On the Home Page of HIVEUPME within the box positioned to the right is the liquidity available to carry out conversion operations.
When the available liquidity on one of the two sides of the Bridge is equal to 0, no conversion operations can be carried out.
When the liquidity on one side of the Bridge is less than 15 percent of the total liquidity on the other side whoever provides all or part of the required liquidity receives an instant 0.075 percent bonus and free SWAP.
The amount of liquidity required to get the free SWAP and the 0.075% bonus is explicitly indicated in the middle section of the third box to the right on the HIVEUPME website (as indicated by the arrow in the following image)
That's the theory but now I'll turn to practice and show you the steps I took today to convert 63 HIVE to 63.047 SWAP.HIVE using HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge.
HIVEUPME: HIVE <-> SWAP.HIVE
Step by step guide
The first step I took to convert 63 HIVE to 63,047 SWAP,HIVE was to enter my user name of Hive (libertycrypto27) within the Check Your Balance section in the left pane at https://swaphive.github.io/swap/ and then I clicked on the Check Balance button.
Then I looked to see if there was a chance to get the free swap and the 0.075% bonus in the third box on the right of the HIVEUPME site.
Within the Swap HIVE Liquidity section:
- 1. I entered the amount of HIVE tokens to be converted to SWAP.HIVE tokens: 63 (arrow number 1 next image)
- 2. I clicked on the Swap button (arrow number 2 next image)
- 3. I clicked on Confirm within the Hive Keychain screen (arrow number 3 next image)
The conversion operation was immediately performed and as you can see from the following image I received 63 SWAP.HIVE + 0.047 SWAP.HIVE (Bonus)
Simple, right? ;)
If I had wanted to perform the reverse operation (SWAP.HIVE -> HIVE) and convert an amount of 63 SWAP.HIVE into HIVE tokens I would have had to:
- 1. enter the quantity of SWAP.HIVE tokens** to be converted to HIVE tokens within the SWAP.HIVE Liquidity section (arrow number 1 next image)
- 2. click on Swap (arrow number 2 next image)
- 3. click on Confirm within the Hive Keychain screen.
However, in this case I would have had to pay a conversion cost of 0.1% which is still a very low conversion cost.
There is also a third conversion option available: VAULT -> HIVE/SWAP.HIVE
In this case there are no fees and the conversion rate is fixed 1 VAULT = 0.1 HIVE/SWAP.HIVE.
The VAULT tokens are second-level tokens on the Hive blockchain and are the tokens that HIVEUPME distributes to those who delegate Hive Power to the @hiveupme account.
90% of the revenue from the curation activity of the @hiveupme account is distributed to delegators in the form of VAULT tokens.
Delegators also receive an amount of UPME tokens that currently have no use cases but will have them in the future as @theguruasia explained to me on Discord when I asked about it.
Final Considerations
HIVEUPME Discount Bridge is a very interesting project and I really like the idea of incentivizing SWAP transactions when liquidity is low.
There are different SWAP services on Hive and the choices and concurrency between the different services are good elements in any ecosystem and they are also good in the beautiful ecosystem of Hive.
When I like a project I try to support it and so I decided to delegate 1000 HP to the @hiveupme account to support HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge and to reward the brilliant idea the developers had by introducing for the first time on Hive an incentive to provide liquidity to a HIVE <-> SWAP.HIVE conversion service.

HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge ha due particolarità che lo differenziano dagli altri servizi di SWAP funzionanti su Hive:
- ha una commissione di swap (HIVE <-> SWAP.HIVE) dello 0.1%
- offre la possibilità di non pagare la commissione di conversione e di guadagnare lo 0.075% quando si verificano determinate condizioni.

Oggi ho utilizzato il servizio offerto da HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge e ho convertito 63 HIVE in 63.047 SWAP.HIVE.
Si hai letto bene e io non ho fatto errori di scrittura, l'operazione di SWAP non solo non ha avuto costi di conversione ma mi ha fatto guadagnare 0.047 SWAP.HIVE, lo 0.075% di 63 HIVE.
Questo perchè gli sviluppatori di HIVEUPME hanno pensato di introdurre un incentivo per risolvere i problemi di liquidità che sono problemi comuni a tutti i servizi di SWAP più piccoli e meno conosciuti dei più famosi e utilizzati Hive Engine e TribalDex che hanno grandi liquidità ma hanno anche fee di SWAP (HIVE<->SWAP.HIVE) più alte: 0.75%.
Nella Home Page di HIVEUPME all'interno del riquadro posizionato a destra è indicata la liquidità disponibile per effettuare le operazioni di conversione.
Quando la liquidità presente su uno dei due lati del bridge è uguale a 0 non è possibile effettuare operazioni di conversione.
Quando la liquidità presente su uno dei lati del Bridge è inferiore al 15% della liquidità presente sull'altro lato chi fornisce tutta o parte della liquidità richiesta riceve una ricompensa instantanea dello 0.075% e lo SWAP gratuito.
L'ammontare della liquidità necessaria per avere lo SWAP gratuito e il bonus dello 0.075% è indicato esplicitamente nella sezione centrale del terzo riquadro a destra nel sito di HIVEUPME (come indicato dalla freccia nell'immagine seguente)
Questa è la teoria ma adesso passo alla pratica e ti mostro i passaggi che ho effettuato oggi per convertire 63 HIVE in 63.047 SWAP.HIVE utilizzando HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge.
HIVEUPME: Step by step guide
Il primo passo che ho effettuato per convertire 63 HIVE in 63.047 SWAP,HIVE è stato quello di inserire il mio nome utente di Hive (libertycrypto27) all'interno della sezione Check Your Balance nel riquadro di sinistra su https://swaphive.github.io/swap/ e poi ho cliccato sul bottone Check Balance.
Poi ho guardato se c'era la possibilità di avere lo swap gratuito e il bonus dello 0.075% nel terzo riquadro a destra del sito di HIVEUPME.
All'interno della sezione Swap HIVE Liquidity:
- 1. ho inserito il quantitativo di token HIVE da convertire in token SWAP.HIVE: 63 (freccia numero 1 immagine seguente)
- 2. ho cliccato sul bottone Swap (freccia numero 2 immagine seguente)
- 3. ho cliccato su Confirm all'interno della schermata di Hive Keychain (freccia numero 3 immagine seguente)
L'operazione di conversione è stata subito eseguita e come puoi vedere dall'immagine seguente ho ricevuto 63 SWAP.HIVE + 0.047 SWAP.HIVE (Bonus)
Semplice vero? ;)
Se avessi voluto effettuare l'operazione inversa (SWAP.HIVE -> HIVE) e convertire un quantitativo di 63 SWAP.HIVE in token HIVE avrei dovuto:
- 1. inserire il quantitativo di token SWAP.HIVE da convertire in token HIVE all'interno della sezione SWAP.HIVE Liquidity (freccia numero 1 immagine seguente)
- 2. cliccare su Swap (freccia numero 2 immagine seguente)
- 3. cliccare su Confirm all'interno della schermata di Hive Keychain
In questo caso però avrei dovuto pagare un costo di conversione di 0.1% che comunque è un costo di conversione molto basso.
C'è anche una terza opzione di conversione disponibile: VAULT -> HIVE/SWAP.HIVE
In questo caso non ci sono fee e il tasso di conversione è fisso 1 VAULT = 0.1 HIVE/SWAP.HIVE.
I token VAULT sono token di secondo livello della blockchain di Hive e sono i token che HIVEUPME distribuisce a chi delega Hive Power all'account @hiveupme.
Il 90% dei ricavi dell'attività di curation dell'account @hiveupme vengono distribuiti ai delegatori in forma di VAULT token.
I delegatori ricevono anche un quantitativo di token UPME che al momento non hanno casi d'uso ma li avranno in futuro come mi ha spiegato @theguruasia su Discord quando ho chiesto informazioni a riguardo.
Considerazioni finali
HIVEUPME Discount Bridge è un progetto molto interessante e mi piace molto l'idea di incentivare le operazioni di SWAP quando la liquidità è poca.
Su Hive ci sono diversi servizi di SWAP e le possibilità di scelta e la concorrezza tra i vari servizi sono elementi positivi in ogni ecosistema e lo sono anche nel bellissimo ecosistema di Hive.
Quando un progetto mi piace cerco di supportarlo e così ho deciso di delegare 1000 HP all'account @hiveupme per supportare HIVEUPME Discounted Bridge e per premiare la brillante idea che hanno avuto gli sviluppatori introducendo per la prima volta su Hive un incentivo a fornire liquidità ad un servizio di conversione HIVE <-> SWAP.HIVE.

Mi sapresti dire, nel frattempo, se c'è un servizio per scambiare hive o swap.hive in crops diverso da hive-engine e tribaldex? Questi due ultimamente permettono soltanto operazioni limit e non più market come fino a poco fa e mi sto trovando a mal partito per ottenere crops (purtroppo sono incappata in 3 failed swaps usando la funzione swap, rimasta l'unica su hive-engine per ottenere crops immediatamente senza dover aspettare i tempi immemorabili della funzione limit.

Servizio decisamente interessante per vari motivi, a iniziare dalla fee per effettuare le transazioni veramente molto bassa, fino al fatto che la stessa può addirittura scomparire e diventare, in alcuni, casi persino un guadagno
Nella mia ignoranza però, perdonami, non ho capito bene i tecnicismi che ci sono dietro all'operazione che ti consente di guadagnare dàll'operazione di swap...
Se ho ben capito, infatti, il guadagno deriva dal fatto che tu dai la liquidità, che manca, al sito, per consentire l'effettuazione dell'operazione, ma questo, nel concreto, che cosa significa?!?
Significa, in pratica, che tu invii al sito la liquidità mancante e, quindi, nel caso dell'esempio, se ho letto bene, invii al sito una liquidità pari a 63.038 Hive per permettere all'operazione in questione?!?...
E' in questo punto che io mi perdo un po', forse a causa della mia esperienza al riguardo, e mi chiedo, di conseguenza, quella liquidità che tu giri al sito che fine fa?!?...
È una parte di liquidità che invii solo ed esclusivamente per consentire l'operazione, ma poi rimane di tua proprietà e ti viene restituita, oppure questa parte rimane, proprio, per sempre, al sito, ma ti viene riconosciuto un qualcosa in cambio?!?...
So che, probabilmente, la risposta sarà banale, e qualcuno si starà domandando come faccio a non saperla, ma ammetto candidamente la mia ignoranza in materia e, quindi, sinceramente, preferisco chiedere a te, che sicuramente sei più pratico del sottoscritto, come funziona la cosa, per potermi approcciare al servizio con più tranquillità, e con le idee molto più chiare.

La liquidità la fornisci indirettamente ma effettui sempre un'operazione di SWAP, quindi non è come le DEFI dove aggiungi una coppia di valori.
Nel mio caso ho fatto un'operazione di conversione HIVE->SWAP.HIVE che se l'avessi fatta su Hive Engine avrei dovuto pagare una fee di 0.75% o su Hive Pay 0.20%. Facendola su Hiveupme non solo non ho pagato fee ma ho ricevuto lo 0.075% di guadagno perchè Hiveupme aveva poca liquidità sul lato HIVE che grazie alla mia operazione ha potuto aggiungere e quindi mi ha premiato.
L'idea è davvero interessante e potrebbe essere la soluzione che adotteranno altri servizi che essendo piccoli come hiveupme avranno spesso problemi di liquidità.
E' in pratica un modello win win ;)

Ora credo, sperando di non sbagliarmi completamente, di aver capito un po' meglio come funziona il tutto, mentre ieri avevo, credo, equivocato parecchio
In pratica, correggimi se sbaglio, per fare quella operazione, tu hai mandato Hive al sito che se li è tenuti, avendone meno rispetto all'altra valuta, e, per ricompensarti, quando ti ha inviato gli Swap.Hive, che aveva in abbondanza, hai ricevuto anche lo 0.075 di guadagno per aver utilizzato il loro servizio, girando a loro la valuta che era più carente sui loro conti, andando a riequilibrare la liquidità.
Effettivamente, se la cosa funziona in questo modo, è certamente un servizio da tenere sempre in considerazione quando si devono fare certe operazioni di conversione, visto che, effettivamente, oltre ad avere fee, comunque, bassissime, dà la possibilità di guadagnare anche una piccola percentuale.
Grazie per la tua risposta, ma soprattutto per averci presentato questo servizio che, sicuramente, può essere molto interessante da utilizzare per certe operazioni.
